One for the Wife

Her conversation with the queen had gone longer than expected, and before she knew it, the time had slipped by and she knew there would be one particular wolf who was going to be unhappy about it. Never before had Odette felt so conflicted about what to do. On one hand, Sirius was her alpha and she answered to him as her highest ranking member in the pack. On the other hand, his wife and mate had given her specific instructions not to leave the land. Torn between the two, Odette passed rapidly between her den and the water hole, her body turning as switched her decision over and over again. Do not go; back to the den. Go anyway; back to the water.

Odette was so caught up in her own internal argument she didn't recognize the bird overhead as Sirius's companion, nor did she witness the massive warlord approaching until he called out her name. Startled, Odette let out a sharp; "Eek!" As she spun around to face him, wide eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. "Sirius! Hi!" She greeted awkwardly, feeling like she was caught once more doing something terribly wrong. Perhaps it was because she was doing something wrong. But perhaps she wasn't and she was only feeling guilty for being unable to hold up their agreement. "I was just coming to.. um.. speak with you about the trip." She lied, a terrible habit she uses in rare circumstances. Hopefully, he would be open to her situation and understand. If not, she at least hoped he would take it up with the Queen, rather than take it out on Odette... especially if that would mean the male using his large fangs.
