With the cow dying quickly from the brute force of the two large males, the duo rushed over the aid Aslatiel with her kill. Seeing them arrive, the girl quickly leaped upon the caribou, holding on with her weird claws. This time Beat took the head. As the beast struggled, he sprung upwards, latching his jaws around the bucks throat and pulling it to the ground. With the three of them biting and tearing at the flesh, the injured buck soon died. It had never stood a chance. The wolves were just too good. Collapsing onto his belly beside the dead buck, Beat panted to cool off. This was the north, but summer was still summer. He wondered just how they were going to divvy up the kills and, more importantly, how they were going to get the meat back to their homes. |
