Walk | "Talk" | think

Never one to be out done, she knew she couldn't turn down Kotori's challenge for a race when he posed it to her that morning. Even though she'd rather go poking around at the plants near the den again, she figured there would be plenty of time to do that after their race. So she took off after him, managing to stay neck and neck with her brother the whole way. However, shortly after hitting the sand, she realized that her brother had suddenly stopped and she made it all the way to the water's edge by herself. While she was happy to have won, she was still a little irritated at Ko for giving up on their game without seeing it through. She slowed to a stop, ungracefully stumbling till she halted right before actually reaching the water. Turning back around toward him with a scowl, she was just about to fuss about him not finishing the race when he called to her to come look at some creature he had found.

Her irritation immediately forgotten, Briar's face lit up with curiosity and she hurried over to where he was standing to come look at the big, angle-y creature that had a bunch of legs and what looked like really pointy things on the ends of a couple of them. It was flat and didn't have any fur! Her brother circled around it and she did the same, eyeing it curiously and eventually trying to imitate it's sideways walk - only to make herself stumble over her own paws in the process. How did it move like that!? Standing behind the crab, she reached out and swatted the thing on the top of what she assumed was its head or maybe its body, seemingly startling the thing as it skittered to turn around and look at her. The hardness of its shell surprised her and her brows lifted with interest. "It's hard on the outside! Harder than a bug for sure.... But what is it?"
