Ardyn Cadeyrn Aodhán Phoenix Adravendi

The was the first time Ardyn was patrolling on his own. Well, mostly. Cairo had accepted Aurielle’s request that Chrystal, his barn owl, watch over her son on his patrol, on wing in case any real trouble came knocking. But the owl floated well out of sight, simply observing.

Ardyn’s raven, Lyr, hopped along the wall above him, preening his feathers and their piebald, glowing sheen. The raven was an enigma like himself and his mother, not having shown the glowing plumage until after his first molt. Ardyn had been saving some of his better shed feathers to braid into his fur later. His mane was really beginning to outgrow his scruff, and his tail was showing clear signs of the elegant plume his mother bore. Perhaps, when fully grown, mane and tail would out-length his own mother.

Ardyn had been collecting feathers for a while now, and once his mane and tail were long enough, ne fully intended to braid them in.

Today, however, he was to patrol the border, and report to his mother what he’d found or not found. However, as he nosed at a mark from one of the pack, intending to mimic his elders by leaving his own scent, a familiar roar permeated the air, and his hackles lifted in alarm. He’d already tangled with a bear, only a week past, and the cut on his cheek, scabbed over, smarted at the memory.

He leapt to the wall, and Lyr floated into the air, peering toward the Rocks. “There’s a wolf out there, and that bear looks mad”

Ardyn bolted. Common logic said to howl for the pack, let the adults handle it. His nature was to dive headlong in defense of his fellow wolf. He’d face the terror-shakes afterward. He didn’t let himself add in his mind the remark: if he lived.

He barreled into the scene, young canines flashing, black claws out, taking a running leap and landing squarely on the bear – the big bear – and sinking in his claws, clinging to the hump and he snapped his front teeth shut on the beasts’s hump fur. He wrapped his short fingers around the bear’s hide, remembering his last scuffle and not wanting to be thrown again as he distracted the beast from its initial target. It worked, and the bear roared again, twisting and swiping toward its shoulder for the half-grown pup clinging to it.

Walk ---- "Speak" ---- "Labhair an Sean-Teanga." ---- "Hear" ---- Think

Ardyn's family (Red, Aurielle, Siblings, Valhalla) are allowed to crash threads, regardless of private tags.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.

Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.

More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.

His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.

A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.

Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.

He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.
