Coran had been running his own partial patrol over the pack lines. The logical part of his mind had it for helping the pack, improving upon himself, but there was also the vibrant young boy who wanted adventure and to prove himself. Where was the threat that he could help protect his pack from? He would not charge into a suicidal fight but he could call for aid and be ready to fight as part of a team if the threat were too tough for him alone.
Hearing Cairo’s call Coran twisted in midstride to run towards the large wolf. The guy had already bested him once in a mock fight and Coran would request a rematch one of these days. The first battle had started with a surprise attack and Coran had trained since then also! Admittedly it wasn’t very long ago for much training to have been done yet but, every little bit counted.
Coran pushed into a lope as he spotted Cairo, putting on the breaks right before reaching the wolf with a friendly smile, “Hi Cairo! I’m ready for a job!” He was old enough for an official job now, right? Did age even matter? Coran had spent his entire life training, which certainly felt a long time to him.
