Rise your head, rise your heart

This place sort of reminded Rudy of home, not their new home but where he had been born. Sure, it was different in a lot of ways but the pools of water reminded him of simpler times and they seemed to be ice instead of water. The motley grey yearling stepped into one of the pools testing the thickness of the ice. The ice cracked and he pressed harder until it broke clear and he lowered his head to drink in some of the biting cold water. It was even colder here than it was in the hallows. This felt like a never-ending journey and he couldn’t even find any excitement in telling his family about it later. He could only find pleasure in that if mom lived. What if this was all worthless? What if Gwynn was wrong and she’d already died? What if someone else had found a cure and they were all fine but wondering about him? There was a lot of ‘what-if's and the majority were bad in one form or another. The frozen water continued downward and what would normally be a relatively easy trek down was a lot more dangerous with all the frozen water coating the ridges. Rudy took his time going further down and after a bit a scent and then a form came into view. Another wolf? Caution, hope, and relief warred inside of himself. “Hey,” the boy called out as he picked up his pace. Luck was eternally on Rudyard's side. Twice he nearly fell on the icy rocks but instead just slipped his way to the bottom and even managed to land on his feet. Rudy missed home. “Are you a healer or do you know any?” "Rudyard"
