I'm caught in a blur

It was late in the evening when Dalila finished putting away the last few herbs she had collected today, continuing to stock the shelves that she and Siren had built. Now that summer finally brought them a little bit of relief from the relentless cold she had doubled down on her scavenging for herbs so that they could finally begin to stock their stores. It was slow going since everything had only just begun to grow again and the melting snow made everything incredibly muddy. She also only gave herself a limited amount of time to go searching so that she wouldn't be away from Siren for too long so when she did go out it was fairly rushed. It really just meant that she ended up more muddy that she would like since she didn't allow for the time to carefully step over every mud pit and puddle. She gave a satisfied sigh as she stepped back to look at her handiwork for a moment before turning away to pick up a piece of soap that was wrapped in a cloth and carried it out of the den, walking out to the near by water. Before living with Siren she never would have bothered with frivolities like bathing with nice smelling soaps and things like that, but it was things she liked to keep around for Siren to keep the beautiful princess pristine and she found herself falling into the habit of doing for herself as well - if for no other reason than she didn't want to accidentally get mud on Siren when she was tending to her in the morning. Dalila settled down at the edge of the water, rinsing off her forelegs and working them against the soap, watching the ripples of dirt float away from her as she worked it out of her dappled pelt. It was pretty dark out by now, but there was enough light from the moon to see by and it glimmered off of peaks and waves of the water in front of her. A small smile lingered on her lips as she worked, wading deeper into the water to start washing and cleaning the rest of her fur while she was at it. |
