He nodded his head, he should have foreseen that. After all this time imprisoned, Zee was still the better navigator. She knew her way home, she could find her way home any time. The problem hadn’t been the distance or the landscape, it had been her jailors. He couldn’t stop himself from taking one last glance behind him. Eyes trailing the smoke back down to the ruined compound. The deaths he had brought yesterday. No mercy. He only wished he had had the foresight to get answers before letting the monster out.

They walked hours, trekking through the territory until they started to emerge into the more open territories central to Boreas. It wasn’t green with the way fall had taken over the land, but it was not as cold. He came to realise walking through the snow had numbed his paws, and the more they dragged themselves out of it, the more his paws hurt. He walked silent as through in a daydream. Blood loss, cuts, burned fur and singed feet catching up to him eventually as a the Warlord transitioned from shuffling along beside Zee, to collapsing. Silently folding in on himself as he hit the ground with a soft 'thud'
