we supposed to be enemies or something?

Omen was doing a bad thing. In her defense the little wispy critters told her to so she was only doing what she was told, but still, somewhere in the back of her brain she knew that wasn't a good enough answer so she was being sneaky about it. Her movements were furtive as she snaked through rogue territory. She was careful to keep to the bushes and stuff until the ground cleared and there was nothing but water and sky in front of her.
The beach was bare as far as the eye could see and as Omen huddled in the shadows at its edge she regarded it disdainfully. Well now what. How could she sneak when there was nothing to sneak under? There weren't even any big rocks for her to squish up against. It didn't help that the whirly twirly wisps were gone, either. She was going to have to make the decision herself, it seemed.
A dark shape in the water - or maybe it was the flash of the boy's markings - caught her eye as she was thinking. Omen perked up. That was a wolf, wasn't it? Swimming in that icky cold water? Gross! There were much better places to swim in the river than here. Places were the water ran clear, gentle and warm. He had to be crazy.
Heedless of the danger from Fireside lookouts, Omen trotted to the water's edge to watch the boy swim in.
