His head hung a little lower at Azure’s wolves. He should have howled at the border. Especially seeing Seers reaction to the starved, abandoned pup. His grandad had taken the pup in. So, maybe if he had just howled at the border, he wouldn’t be in this mess. It was already a lesson he wasn’t likely to forget. But, his dad seemed determined to drive the point home. He went on to explain the security of the pack, how he had betrayed them all with what he did. He was starting to realise it was way more important than he had first realised. His dad wasn’t messing around with this.
“I’m sorry, Dad” he said as the man finished his first speech and started the next. He was leaving him and Callie out here for the night? He supposed it was better than his dad throwing him away, but still… somehow it was almost worse, that his dad was leaving his sisters safety in his paws. Callie crept closer to him as that realisation dawned on her, too. He watched their dad leave, still feeling a little whiplash from this turn of events. He felt guilty for being glad he wasn’t out here alone… “I’m sorry, Callie” he said, despite her assurances.
He watched as she rifled through the bag, sniffing at the meat. It wasn’t even a snack to Basilisk, who practically ate his body weight a day. “I guess we should… uhh… set up a base for the night. Something defendable. Are you hungry?” he asked, trying to figure out their priorities.
