Merrick

Chade was happy to see help arrive. Sure, the boy had gained the confidence to fight a lion without calling for back up but that was different than saying he wouldn’t welcome to help. The lion initially had intended to go at Chade with teeth and claws but now a new threat had arrived. It was impossible to keep attacking the shoulder the way the lion spun so fast to get Merrick.
Big mistake cat.
The lion had spun for Merrick and so Chade attacked the side of his face that wasn’t facing Merrick, the source of its main attention. Chade didn’t quite get the eye but got his teeth in the face close to the cheek around it, pulling back, creating a rather gruesome look on the face. The lion spun about to confront the assault on his face. Chade met the attack, biting into the lion’s muzzle as it spun around. The lion’s jaw opened and shut before jerking away from Chade’s attack and lunged with the intent to bite Chade’s throat in hateful rage.
Chade had already distanced himself a stride, glancing back as he turned around. Now when the lion opened its mouth to bite it would have to feel the pain of the crack in the bone covering that portion of its muzzle.
