The woman went for the bears face, so Merrick went for the legs. If she was dumb enough to take on the front end, let her do so. She may have recognized him, but he didn't recognize her. There were so many Mendacium's scattered about that there was no way to know all of them. He didn't need to know all of them either. For the most part, Merrick kept to himself. He had a small circle that he dealt with. Everyone else was kept at arms length.

With one leg taken out, the giant marbled brute moved to the opposite hind leg, grabbing the knee between his jaws and thrashing his head back and forth. He could feel the joint pop between his jaws and the bear roared in pain, spinning about to swipe at the man, but Merrick went along with the curling motion, never losing his hold on the knee. Once his paws touched down firmly again, he whipped his head back and forth once more.
