The pair sawed in forced silence, mouths full as the pulled back and forth, intending to fill the ditch his companions were preparing with enough stalks. As to how many, he wasn't totally sure. As this was just a test of sorts he didn't want to go overboard and prepare too many, but he didn't want to set the experiment up for failure because he'd been complacent.

He lowered the saw and thought for a moment longer.

"We can start with six for now."

It took a considerable amount of time to gather the total amount of bamboo shafts, and Hattori's jaw ached with the strain by the time they were done. The lines of wood had been piled into a neat triangle and were quickly gathered by Hattori's companions who had just finished digging out the trench. Dragging them along, Hattori waited for Usagi to follow suit as the group moved to the furthest edge of the territory. Right on the cusp of no man's land.

The way they had cut the bamboo ensured there was a slanted, blade like edge on the tips. But Hattori made a point of sanding it further to a point with a few rubs of metal. Putting them into place was going to be easier said than done, it was a good thing Usagi was here for extra manpower.

"Drive them in deep with the tips facing up, after we can cover the pit with a mesh and leaves. We will need to tell the others of the trap perhaps mark it out so no one falls in." The last thing he wanted to deal with was a pup who'd impaled themselves by accident. The pit trap was only about large enough to bring down a smaller sized deer, nothing massive but it was certainly a start.
