Slowpokes Need Not Apply

Keahi wades her way toward the shore when a huge splash catches the red wolf’s attention. Eyes catch sight of the colorful creature she had met the other day and she smiles as the dog rolls around in the cool water. She stops to watch him enjoying the cold water, his chirpy barks of happiness pulling soft chuckles from her. When he rolls over and catches sight of her, Keahi laughs and slowly walks toward him, legs splashing water every which way as she goes. He speaks and she chuckles before saying, “My, my. If it isn’t my favorite spotted creature.” She offers him a smile before letting her gaze wander to the shoreline as she continues, “Yes, the cool water felt like a good idea but now, I am more interested in a race. What do you say Kione? First one to second bend in the river wins?” A red paw gestures in the direction they would run as she looks to him and lifts her eyebrows in question, challenging the wild dog to a race.
