Slowpokes Need Not Apply

Kione’s gaze is focused forward, body stretching and coiling with every pounding stride.  Quiet laughter can be heard in his high-pitched voice, simple glee at the running.  Sure, in a race for life and death they might say you should stay quiet and conserve air on breathing and such things but Kione was enjoying himself, and laughing was a thing you did when having fun.

Kione had never been much for slowing down without a serious reason and so at those tight turns the painted wolf just twisted tightly to follow the path.  Even though his eyes focused on where he was going those overly large ears twitched, sensitive to the tiniest sounds and listening to where Keahi was as surely as he’d listen to his pack when hunting for strategy over distance.  

Rocks were leaped over, twisted around, and one way or another any obstacle was dodged.  You don’t race unless you intend to win.
