Keahi’s focus is purely on the finish line, her mind continually plotting and replotting the path of least resistance to it. Weight shifts to make a tight turn, tail snapping to the side to act as rudder and aid in keeping her balance. Red paws carry her forward, her muscles tensing and releasing with thundering step. Rocks lay in their path and Keahi opts to adjust her course slightly and run around them instead of leaping over them. She doesn’t want to waste energy needlessly and jumping is a calculated risk, she could always stumble on the landing. With the rocks cleared, the long, straight stretch is all that is left between them and the finish line. Legs stretch to their limit as the tropical wolf puts every last ounce of energy into this run. In the end, there can only be one winner.
