Corbie had been out on the hunt for small game when she came across the relatively recent scent of a mule deer. An elderly doe, from the scent, so probably weak from the winter and unlikely to have a fawn at her side. She hesitated, knowing it was a good target... if she had a hunting partner, which she didn't. Instead she moved on.
After failing to catch a hare before it escaped her, Corbie was wandering, panting and looking for another small animal to try, when her nose twitched. The scent of the mule deer doe was stronger here than it had been earlier. The doe was likely nearby, probably browsing to try to make up for the winter starvation. Corbie couldn't help but hesitate again, torn. She clearly couldn't hunt the deer herself, but it was just such a tempting target.
