The chuckle from her dearest friend only caused Lucette to grin. Of course, she knew he’d do it anyway. They didn’t back down from things because of danger or because they seemed hard, now did they? She stuck her tongue out at him with a knowing look in her eyes as he bounded forward.
“You know I knew you’d do it anyway,” She teased. “Just as I knew the answer to my questions. We’ve been around each other long enough to know that it’s going to take more than potential threats to scare us off.” Her green gaze looked back towards the trail up the mountain. From what she could see at least it looked like it was going to be a hell of a climb. There were trees and other foliage dotting the area, things that became taller with age, and given that there was no way to know the age of each bit of flora in the area they were going in potentially blind. Ah, what the hell.
“The more reasonable path is definitely the one down there,” Her grin widened. “But since you’re so eager let's head up.” She leaped after him, her smaller legs and body requiring more than one bounce to clear the same amount of space. “You know I suck at waiting. I’ll get bored.” She looked back up at him again. “I’ll walk for now.” She paused and glanced down the path, towards the basin that was dipping in towards the earth.
“I wonder though… If we get to the top of these cliffs think we can get a good view of Boreas? Maybe we can figure out which way to head from there. Shame the pack mom was in got taken before she and dad left and had me… It’d be nice to have a clearer answer of where to go.” Her tone had become somber for a moment, her green eyes thoughtful. She loved being with Bae-Syl, and their adventures, but she did miss her folks from time to time.
Did they… miss her?
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts she took another leap forward and spun on her heels in the snow. Then, scooping up a pawful of snow, the yearling tossed it toward her bestie with a laugh. “Besides! You’d have to catch me if you wanted to carry me, Bae. That’s the easy way out! You know that's not acceptable.”
