Never Gave a Warning Sign
Chimera

The sound of someone clearing their throat made him jump and when he lowered his forepaws from his face he realized Chimera had been watching him, his golden gaze connecting with the silver and pink eyes of his alpha. His ears folded back with embarrassment as he wondered to himself how long Chimera had been watching. He didn't necessarily want anyone in the pack to see him like this, but least of all Chimera. There weren't many wolves that he had a genuine respect for or cared what their opinion of him was, but the Fenmyre King had been nothing but fair and giving to him since they crossed paths and he was invited to the island dwelling pack so Chimera had earned his rarely given loyalty. When Chimera motioned for him to follow, Ciná sighed softly, knowing there was nothing to be done about it now. He got back to his paws, wincing a little as his tail shifted a bit with the motion, and went to follow Chimera as the other man led the way down the beach to a dwindling fire.
After a couple of pieces of wood were added to the flames and Chimera had settled on the sands, Ciná followed suit, laying on his stomach so that his tail could lay out as straight and relaxed behind him as he could. Satira had done a good job of patching him up and the way she bandaged and splinted it kept it from moving too much anyway, but the more he could keep from moving it the more comfortable it felt. He had a hard time meeting Chimera's gaze and only glanced up at him when he questioned if he felt better after 'murdering the tree'. Ciná scoffed softly and looked back down at his paws as he fidgeted a bit with the sand under them. "No... not really," he replied after a beat of hesitation, his ears flicking back again. He knew Chimera would likely want an explanation and he honestly didn't even know where to begin. He had never discussed his family, where he came from, or his past with Chimera. It had never come up and it hadn't mattered which was honestly one of the reasons he felt like he had been able to settle in here so easily. Now all of those things had come rushing at him all at once and he would have to figure out how to navigate it whether he wanted to or not.
He sighed and gave a little shake of his head before he finally just got on with it, deciding that beating around the bush was just going to make it worse. "I was crossing over the bifrost coming back to Auster and ran into my father. It's the first time I've seen him since his pack dissolved... He was the alpha of Incindium." There had been plenty of wolves at the challenge where so he couldn't imagine that a fellow alpha wouldn't know about it, but he didn't really know what Chimera did and didn't know either. "I gave him a piece of my mind about what an awful, absent excuse of a father he was and he lost it. He attacked me, tried to rip off my tail. I took off his ear instead." When he spoke there was an edge of anger to his words, but mostly he just sounded distant and detached. He didn't want to think too deeply about any of it to keep himself from falling into those emotions again and in a way he almost felt like a spectator to all of it, like it was too absurd to have actually happened. But it had, it was his life and he had lived it and he wished he hadn't.
