Mortis stood there in silence as the wolves - many of them family to him - filled in. The looks on their faces ranged from upset to angry. He could feel something inside of himself dying at the looks in their eyes. He had struggled so much lately with feelings of inadequacy, as if he did not belong anywhere. Seeing it in their eyes was almost too much to bear. To hear Aris lay it out so simply - that he was not worth the effort of coming here, that he was not someone she would wish to learn from - well, he almost threw in the towel then and there. Hearing it from his younger sister.

And then his father was there, standing in as if he had known all along that Mortis would not be able to manage this on his own. He waited a moment - perhaps even longer than he should, to ensure that the wolves before him were all that were coming. “Very well then, let's begin. I know you don’t want me here, but I’m what you’ve got. He said, keeping emotion from his voice. “Lets have you pair up. Gossy with Basilisk, Keahi with Malachai, and Aris with Sirius.” He said, waiting for the wolves to move into pairs. “Let’s start with a round of spars. As you fight, consider your opponents fighting styles. See if you can think of both strengths and weaknesses to discuss with your opponent at the end.” He said. They were a team, right? What better way for the Armada wolves to team up then to consider how to better each other? It made sense that Mortis himself didn’t have an opponent. He wasn’t a part of these wolves.
