Bae-Syl was in the pack with her at last and his presence brought a sense of comfort and relief that Lucette hadn’t even known she’d been missing. That night she approached him, found the mangled coyote, he claimed that he had been ready to attack her… but no. Lucy didn’t believe that. Maybe it was foolishness on her part, a naivety, but she truly believed Bae-Syl would never be able to bring himself to hurt her. Demons or no demons. But as she kept herself busy that afternoon, primarily working with her father to set up doses of herbs for Bells and sort his stores to check for any older herbs that needed to be replaced, she couldn’t help but notice that she hadn’t from Bae-Syl all day. By the time evening had come she had started to get worried, leaving the cave behind the falls to start investigating the lands. Surely he was just patrolling, right? He was supposed to keeping busy, primarily in the territory of the Creek… The pixie frowned, ears falling as the sun started to sink lower. She wasn’t quite sure why, but something felt… off. Bae hadn’t checked in on her at all, either. She was circling back around to the cave when she caught sight of Bae-Syl heading in. Her ears flicked forward and her eyes widened a little. Uh oh… what was he doing in there? The cave acted as a den for her folks… and formerly herself before she moved to the creek to be with Bae-Syl. Was he hoping to find her there? Lucette hurried in, first peeking towards her folks den. Thankfully all of them were out… she could smell blood and her stomach churned as she glanced down at the bag… what in the name of the Divinities was in that? She pinned her ears back, turning away, heading further in, towards the cavern where she’d been denning before. There had been a couple furs left behind and that was where she found Bae-Syl. There was an additional hide with him, one of a cougar, and Lucette’s eyes widened. He was supposed to check in around lunch time… and instead… he got in a fight with a big cat? Slashes on his flank, on his shoulders, and it looked like the thing had gone for his face too. Lucy drew in a breath, shaking. “Bae...” She tried to make her voice hard, angry, but there was no hiding the tinge of worry that was there too. “Where were you? You… you do realize I don’t sleep in this spot anymore, right?” Despite herself, despite herself wanting to yell at him, she was already moving, her green eyes frantically taking in the damage. Her own store of herbs was at the creek… she was going to have to raid her father’s. “Didn’t you learn from the buffalo!?” Her green eyes shot to him. A swirl of emotion. Anger. Hurt. Worry. “You almost got gored then, and these slashes are deep!” Her lips quivered. “You can’t keep taking on large beasts by yourself! You’re going to get yourself killed!” She wasn’t giving him any room to speak. She drew close to his face, pressing her nose against his colorful skin. “Do I need to send mom after you next time you’re late for check in?” Shit, the tears were pricking her eyes. Angry as she was, she was worried too. And she couldn’t just be angry with him even if she wanted to be. The bleeding had stopped, but this was right back to when he got hurt at The Range and they both got hurt. “I...” Her voice wavered, anger and confidence faltering. “I need you to be careful… I can’t bare losing you again...” Her gaze fell as she fought to keep her tears contained. Dammit… some great healer she was. Every time something happened to Bae-Syl she let her emotions get the better of her. Rule her… what was she going to do if he ever got a wound where time was of the essence with treating him? What if his life slipped through her paws because she couldn’t hold herself together…?
