The man wandered far from Ludicael's borders. Leaving the now familiar grounds he roamed without actually staying in the pack. Though his family had chosen to live in Ludicael, he and Legend had not yet chosen to give their commitment to the pack. Though his commitment and loyalties lied entirely to his family alone, he did not care much for the pack itself. It had not seemed like a place he wanted to be, and he was not too keen on committing to a pack that he knew nothing about. Not to mention with having just left his old pack not too long ago, he began to enjoy the freedom of being a rogue. Likewise, Legend felt the same. He and his brother had gained some bonding time together, and that's just how Howl had wanted it. For now though, Howl left Legend back near Ludicael lands as he went off to find out news of the world. He heard tales of an upcoming war, though he was sure that Ludicael would not be attending. However, just to be sure he wanted to speak with his family and ensure that they would not be going if Ludicael was called on.

It wasn't long before he came upon Northern lands, and instantly the stench of blood reached his nostrils. He knew the northern lands were dangerous, but honestly he thought that without valid reason nobody could engage him in a fight. And if he ran into a Glaciem wolf, then he would talk his way or fight his way. He would not be forced into a harem pack even as a prisoner. Even with those nagging thoughts, the curiosity of the spilled blood drove him forward to investigate. And before long, he could hear the sounds of anger echoing througout the land. What in the world was it? Perhaps the wolf whose blood was shed on the ground? It was evident that whoever blood this was, a lot of it had been spilled. And obviously, it seemed forced to whatever fate awaited it. He was sure Glaciem had something to do with it, after all...they always played a part in foul play. At long last his hazel eyes fell on a strangely marked man, and Howl sensed something strange about him. He approach with care, keeping his distance should the stranger turned on him. But all he wanted to do was to find out if he was okay, or if he needed help in some way. "You look like you're about to rip out the devils throat...Do you know what happened here?" he would ask in an unchallenging tone, indicating towards the blood and fur across the ground.
