Maki was a simple girl, liked laying on her back atop a hill, watching the clouds roll by as she wondered what life was like up there. She curled her toes and decided that clouds must be very soft under paw, maybe even wispy too, like smoke but better. Birds flew overhead, cheeping and calling out to their friends as they soared with ease. She wondered what it would be like, did it feel the same to a windy day? As though the breeze was just rustling her fur, her body all light and floaty as if she'd gotten too deep into water? She hummed softly, taking these thoughts very seriously. But wolves couldn't fly...she thought, but wasn't entirely sure why they couldn't. She rolled onto her side, craning her neck to check out her back. She didn't have wings, she conceded, not even the sort and stubby ones like bees did, but did she really need wings to fly?
Maki pushed herself up onto her rump. This hill was kind of tall, her legs had gotten kinda tired climbing all the way up. If she were to jump would she fly?
