Sparrow wasn't really familiar with the bird that sought her out, but the thing seemed desperate and it mentioned Recluse, so Sparrow followed it. She made haste, the bird keeping pace with her and leading the way. Soon, a white lump came into view, the cavern air blowing the tips of the fur gently. She was crumpled wrong- not in the way one sleeps or rests- like she plummeted face first into the cavern and similarly, so did Sparrow's heart. The scent of blood hit her before even Recluse's own as she rushed to the woman's side, murmuring her name between soft 'no's that gave away that she already knew what was going on. She lowered herself, gingerly flipping the woman's limp body over, revealing the stained fur and wound that opened below her lifeless face. She was still so warm- she didn't smell dead yet, but she showed it, her lips tinging the slightest shade of blue in the earliest stages. Sparrow's throat closed and she wracked with a violent sob as she tried to suck in air, her paw covering the wound. She was no healer, but if she tried- maybe- no, she knew she couldn't, but she tried anyway. The flow of blood had slowed, but Sparrow sought to stop it. Maybe if it stopped, Recluse could make more blood, right? That happened all the time. She pulled the blood-stained woman close, rocking her while trying to find some way to close the wound. A part of her knew it was hopeless, so she sobbed, but the stubborn part of her wouldn't let go. She pressed her face into Recluse's cheek, willing her to wake up, rocking her and rubbing her chest like a newborn baby that hasn't taken its first breath yet. Her damp sobs melted into the woman's fur which was beginning to slowly lose its warmth. Sparrow pressed her forehead to Recluse's as if she could get her thoughts and prayers through to the woman, then she'd return. She cast a look to the sky, pleading to gods she never believed in to not take Recluse from her- to give her back, even if just for a little. She mushed her nose to the woman's, remembering their first kiss before smushing one unreturned on her maw. Wasn't love and willpower and all that good shit supposed to fix everything? Sparrow curled around the woman, as if she could keep her warm enough to recover, but she knew somewhere inside that this was the end- she just wasn't ready to accept it yet, and so she wouldn't until all signs of life were gone and she had squeezed out the last bit of whatever feelings Recluse had left in her soul to carry with her for the rest of her life. |
Sparrow has a female Harlequin Macaw named Pongolo and a male Capuchin monkey named Friar, and a hairless mushroom tuxedo cat named Beef Sandwich. She also has cat claws... and some weird leg spike things.
