A ghost from the past

It was going to be strange not living under these trees any more. As she slipped back under the shade of the huge pines she looked up wistfully at the branches above her. She would miss this forest. But, perhaps, one day she would return. For now her pups deserved a better home. She just hoped that the new Amenti would be the right home for them. She was back in the forest to retrieve her family and to let Dempsey know of the change, to invite him to come along. She hoped he would agree... she had grown quite fond of the silvery brute recently and she thought he felt the same way, but she wouldn't force him to come to the pack with her if he did not want to. A new scent crossed her nose and she stopped, her violet gaze searched the trees around her for its source. It was such a familiar scent... But it had been so long since she had smelled it. Could it really be him? She hadn't seen him since Medusa's birth. She looked around once again for Deteste's form in the trees, wondering what could have brought the brute here after all this time.
