Reminding Cambria that it was on their kindness, good will, and graces alone that she survived had become something of a sport for Matija. Making sure the girl knew that the dangers outside were worse than the ones inside. She relied on them, after all. A bit of nipping at her heels was par for the course. For as loose and normal as he tries to appear, Matija's head is on a swivel. They had yet to come across any locals, but it would only be a matter of time.
The Mangrove provided relative safety. Good cover, easy fishing, fresh water-- everything they'd need for now. They could set up camp here and get their bearings. Taking a moment to make sure they hadn't been followed, that there were no other predators lurking in the shadowed waters, before relaxing. Couldn't be too careful. Couldn't be too concerned.
Gaze bright, he pounces toward Cambria, stopping short with a splash and a rakish laugh-- playful. Playful from anyone else. Right, maybe Matija is enjoying himself too much. Shoulders rolling, a grin playing on his face. "Vacation, prolonged camping trip, same difference." Stepping a bit deeper, farther away from the pair, Mati shifts and rolls into the water, flopping down dramatically. Scrubbing himself beneath the surface before coming up with a flourish.
Satisfied with his rolling, he speaks on coming up. "Looks like it's autumn here. Saw some trees starting to change in the distance, far up the coast as I came in. This should be far enough south to be comfortable for the time being." Matija thinks aloud, mostly to Idris. Hashing out his thoughts, laying his notes on the table now that they were finally stationary for a bit.

Cambria is assumed nearby at all times & welcome anywhere Matija is.
