The hot summer days often drive Zion deep into the caves of the Col where she would try to wait out the heat. But days keep passing with little sign of the relentless weather letting up and the woman finds herself growing restless in the dark caves. Paws pull her from the tunnel system out into the open area of the Col and she stops to blink against the harsh sunlight that greets her.
As she adjusts to the brightness, a curious form on the edge of her vision catches her attention. A purple pack mate walks through the open space, tension practically screaming out their nervousness as they flightily make their way onward. When a bird crosses through the sunlight, throwing its shadow across the ground, the worried wolf visibly flinches away and Zion decides right then and there to check in with them.
Paws push her toward forward and, not wishing to alarm her pack mate even more, she lets out a gentle, friendly ‘woof’ in the hopes of alerting them to her approach without, hopefully, sending them barreling away in terror. Making sure to relax her body, Zion stays loose and calm as she approaches the other woman, a warm smile on her lips as she softly asks, “Are you okay?” Lavender eyes search their face for hints of what might be going on with them.
