The Unraveling - Going Deeper

Damira was quiet and blinked slowly as she realised her face was wet. The white of her fur was splattered with something warm, red, and it took her an embarrassingly long time to realise what it was. Not just blood, but chunks of- she quickly shook her head, not allowing the tendrils of panic to take root, not when there was something she could do, they were not yet doomed. Sacrifices were necessary and they had gained some leeway, if nothing else.
Moving quickly, she gripped the sharpened pillar of ice tightly within her jaws and slammed the end into the ground, burying it as deep as she could, hoping that it would remain steady and upright. She skittered around the worms attacks, her slight frame was smaller than most here, but she knew full well if it hit her she would get hurt, badly. A risk worth taking.
She panted with the exertion of it all, gathering the ice shards and setting the jagged trap. She knew it was watching, that it wasn't mindless but with several plans in play at once...surely one would succeed.
