THERE AINT NO REST FOR THE WICKED
Enyo’s gaze remained fixed, hard and cold as steel, on Genesis as he leaned in close to Epimethius. She did not blink, and her expression remained impeccably stoic, concealing the irritation simmering beneath. Family matters were never meant to be aired for spectators. With the clang of metal from her armored form faintly echoing, she leaned in just enough to make her presence unmistakable, her voice as sharp but low enough to avoid drawing attention.
"Η υπακοή στη σιωπή θα προκαλούσε λιγότερη σκηνή από το να σπαταλάτε την αναπνοή σας σε μια εξήγηση," she said, each word crisp and laced with quiet menace. Cold and calculating, her eyes flicked to Epimethius for the briefest moment, a reminder, not a challenge. She would not waste more on a pet. The Patriarch's challenge mattered now, and any bickering would only make them appear fractured. A vulnerability she could not abide by.
As her eyes scanned the gathered crowd, they fell upon Bellatrix. A flicker of recognition passed through her gaze as she saw the small wolf she had once aided with a trap. Enyo dipped her head in a subtle, acknowledging greeting, a gesture reserved for few. But her attention quickly shifted, sharpening as she noted who sat beside Bellatrix. Her eyes swooped over to the now familiar figure of the black and blue wolf, clinging to his little sword. She recognized the pack scent from the timid she-wolf she had met on the Bifrost. She couldn't help but notice he was always on the opposition side. The castle was it? How fragile it all seemed. Would they deny themselves the opportunity to gain a powerful ally out of fear? She would hope not. Were they all too scared to see the potential strength at their door? Or were they all blinded by cowardice that they'd rather risk making a dangerous enemy?
She watched as his eyes narrowed; his disdain was evident before it returned to her brother, and she felt a flicker of satisfaction at the bitterness across his features. He was a sight to behold, but his contemptuous glances, especially when directed at her kin, made this moment all the more enjoyable. Enyo’s lips curved into a small, knowing smile. Her gaze had an amused, predatorial glint. A challenge lingering unspoken in the space between them. Let him glare. Let him simmer. She reveled in the thought of being the cause of his displeasure, of his obvious distaste for the Dunamis and Medusa. She tilted her head ever so slightly, acknowledging his attention with a subtle, almost mocking lift of her chin.
To be despised, feared, and watched so closely by enemies was a sign they were doing something right. Enyo drank it in, savoring every flicker of contempt across their faces.
Who needed steel when you had tooth and claw? Gold and blood? Strength and resilience? The Dunamis did not need weapons to prove their strength. It was in their pedigree, their lineage, and their blood.
Good, she thought to herself, a hint of her smile still lingering. Let him fume. It only proved that their presence and their intentions were impossible to ignore.
Enyo’s jaw clenched beneath her teeth caps, but her expression never wavered. There was a lot of tension on that side, but as far as she could tell, the Insomniacs and Dunamis were as cool as ever. Challenge was nothing new to them. It was not a novelty to be shocked or outraged when its face showed itself. There would be time to address old and new challenges soon enough. For now, she was here for Erebros.
