And no rivers and no lakes can put the fire out

I'm gonna raise the stakes, I'm gonna smoke you out

Fugue's compliments on her choice of roost brought a sly smirk to the fae's lips. It was not so much for protection purposes, but instead the fae was testing the world, to see if it had any other horrible surprises in store. Whether this was something consciously realized by the girl or an idea floating in the dark spaces of her mind... well. "It is all of that and more," she said. "I gives me what I need, even if food is often hard to come by." The male began to speak of fate, and Raisa would not be able to hold in a smile. The fae wasn't sure she believed in fate, or even in the gods, after all that had happened. If there was some sort of divine will floating about in the world, she had decided long ago that she wanted nothing to do with, based on the fact that so much in her life had gone wrong. So she shrugged, and bobbed her head from side to side to show her indifference.

When his attention turned to Koros, however, Raisa could not help her spine from stiffening. Her hackles stayed flat, but her eyes sharpened with a new intensity. She casually brought a limb forward, placing it between her steward and the stranger, using it as an excuse to sidle up closer to him. "If you must know," she said, her voice cold, though her actions meant to distract his attention. "Koros is my steward. He travels with me and handles my affairs when I cannot. He is quite valuable to me." He was the only remnant of her tattered past, and the only creature she could occasionally call friend. She would not stand for Fugue to harm or mock the creature, and foresaw this meeting turning south if that should arise, and turning quickly.
