Walk | Talk | Think

As she had been doing since their arrival, Ashtoreth had been out and about scouting for food sources. There was still plenty of the island left to explore, so much of it that she was sure she would need to enlist the help of her other hunters very soon, but for the time being she was happy to have the distracting work all to herself. It was good busy work, and it helped let her know what was out there which was also good for her unexplained paranoia of meeting a less agreeable island inhabitant. No altercations had thus far arisen but she was cautious nonetheless, well aware of how vulnerable she would be against a skilled adversary who at least matched her own size. She had the scars upon the back of one hind leg to attest to it.

Her ventures typically kept her well within the cover of the thick green vegetation but as fate had it she was near its edge instead. Her nose, which had been working to distinguish the scents of the forest from one another, caught one that was entirely familiar and actually managed to trip up the supposedly skilled hunter in an almost literal sense.. Leon! He was close. Really close. It was not often that she ran across him when out scouring the island, and she could hardly ignore his presence now that she knew him to be there. Excitedly, eagerly, she caught more thoroughly onto his scent and trailed after it, following it out to the sunset-red beach.

He seemed to wander aimlessly, his large, mottled brown frame traipsing down near the shallows. She made no move to join him at first and instead took a moment to marvel at him and the relationship they had developed. So surprising, it had snuck up on the both of them, neither aware of the other's feelings until the war had pushed them together. She smiled as she recalled that moment, the relief, the happiness she had felt overwhelm her. It still did the same at times, but she was learning to overcome it. Quietly, employing her talents as a hunter, she swiftly approached from behind him, half certain that she would not be able to muffle the sound of her steps within the sand, and without giving him time to react she leapt up to tackle him from the side, intending to try at the very least to catch him by surprise if not unbalance him. No matter the success, Ash nuzzled into him and kissed his cheek, tucking her face into the fur along his neck as she murmured happily the three little words that had caused her so much trouble before in the telling, "I love you."
