"Silent Screams Erupt Within Me"

The afternoon sun bore down upon the Cross marked male. Clear blue eyes seemed to shine brightly with the light of the sun, but inside...turmoil. He had found some of his family, the others still seemed to be lost. He was unsure if his vile brother had gotten his claws on them, but he hoped that was not the case. Jinxx would walk to the ends of the earth to find and protect them. It was all he hoped to do, seldom did he live for himself...for he lived to protect those he cared about. Black striped tail flicked away a bothersome fly, ears swatting them away as well. The scents of many things upon these fields enticed him, but he wasn't all that hungry. Even so, his belly rumbled with the demand for food. So, Jinxx would move across the grass plains in search of something edible. But of course it would be an easy task, for it seemed many herds of different animals had gathered in large droves to graze. Eager for the spring grass and flowers that would satiate their hunger. He could hear calves bleating in the distance, a light smile sweeping across his inky lips as he trotted on.

As he weaved his way into a field of tall grasses, he could hear the stamping of hooves all around him. Deer, caribou, and a variety of other hoofed animals milled about, oblivious to his presence. He stopped, listening to the sounds nearby. The smell of prey animal was overpowering, each scent melting into one another becoming indecipherable as to what belonged to which animal, or even where exactly they were. Pressing on, he would slip through the tall grasses to try and find open ground, little did he know he was to come face to face with a fairly angry and testosterone filled creature. The boy parted the grasses, relieved finally to see open ground before him, however, when he stepped out he was met with a dueling pair of moose. He froze, the losing bull backing off with a look of defeat and a bruised ego. And then, the victor blaring out his victory.

Jinxx decided this wouldn't be the best place to make an exit, and so he slowly stepped back towards the grass he had come from. Unfortunately for him, nature would give away his presence. A twig snapped under his hind leg, the boy's head whipping back and cursing under his breath before whipping forward again, only to see the bull moose staring in his direction. "Uh oh..." The moment the realization hit him, the bull moose would make his charge. With a gasp, Jinxx would turn himself around to run from the maddened beast. The grasses blinded him as he ran, not knowing where he was going while the moose pounded behind him. He could feel the earth tremble and shake underneath his paws, the hot breath of the angered beast on his tail. His lungs burned with the effort of running, he could not remember the last time he had run for his life, though he was sure it was when his brother had wreaked chaos on the pack, forcing some of them to flee.

Desperation clung to his pelt, he did not want to die by becoming trampled. Not today. It was silly really, to be running from something that would be considered prey, but even prey was just as deadly as a predator. And this bull moose seemed hell bent on plastering him into the ground. The boy put on an extra burst of speed, knowing that he would only be able to do so once before exhaustion would set in. Adrenaline coursed through him, but even that feeling eventually had an expiration time. He glanced back, the bull moose falling behind only slightly but still keeping after him. Returning blue gaze forward he would run for what seemed like forever, until finally he burst through the tall grass and onto flatter ground. His vision was mostly kept on the speeding ground below his feet, not wanting to trip and stumble, for that would surely allow the beast to come upon him. However, as he risked another glance back, the creature had fallen a little further behind, but still keeping its pace. It was then that Jinxx realized a little too late, that he would be met with a creature he had not encountered before. As soon as he faced forward once more, eyes widened in surprise as he tried to skid to a halt, but the speed only forced him into an ungraceful slide down the banks and across the waters, straight into the legs of a large black creature.

He felt water wrap around his body, his head slipping into the depths, water splashed everywhere. He felt winded, having side slammed into the creature's legs at a side angle, which in turn forced the breath out of his winded lungs. He lost all sense in where he was, unsure if the bull moose was even still on his trail. Water was all around him, and as soon as he regained a little bit of his senses, he would strive upwards to break the surface, a fairly large and loud breath of air sucked into his lungs. He was dazed, sore, trying to catch his breath.
