Nothing Feared More.

The fact that he didn't blink and stare awkwardly at her when she spoke was a welcome change and she found she smile growing even as he chuckled at her attempt at landing gracefully. After the sting began to recede from her legs she tested them, shifting her weight from one paw to the other then around to make sure they were all feeling well. His words drew her back from her thoughts and she turned slowly to face him, head tilting pleasantly as she stored his name forever in her mind. "Newol? Pleasure to meet you, I'm Viridiana Sovari though most call me Vi." Words Slithered tantalizingly off her tongue as she lowered her haunches to the ground and flipped white dipped tail around her forepaws. She gave him the time he needed to collect his thoughts, allowing lantern gaze to follow his to the sunrise. Though unlike him she was unable to keep the smile steadily on her features and slowly it dissolved into a blank slate as she stared into the almost blinking light. How many times had she watched the sun rise over horizon mountain with her brother and the goddess? How many sunrises had she spent in the company of random strangers of corpses? She couldn't count them and yet here was another spent with a stranger. She missed her family. A sharp exhale of breath was what finally drew her back to the presence and slowly unblinking eyes would turn to the male before her, head tipping curiously and ears swivelling forward to catch whatever words might follow his breath. And words did in fact follow, heavy and heart felt. Run to where you can thrive? Parents said those kinds of things? Vi's concept of parenting and a normal family relationship had always been skewed and distorted so his words hit somewhere painful in her heart. But as he turned to face her she forced a small smile, the edge of her lips twitching up easily. Again her spoke and slowly she stood, shaking any dirt that may have collected in her red pelt before motioning for him to follow. "Well then let me welcome you to Alacrita. The north has the most beautiful sunrises but nothing bets the islands if you have a chance to visit them." She said softly, walking with him along the edge of the wall. She had been here for what felt like forever, the first 6 months of her life was her only memories of Taiyae and then she had ventured to Alactitis after the floods in Taiyae and then here with the rest of Tortuga after the volcano eruption in Alacritis. Seemed that tragedy followed the female wherever she went. "What do you think of it so far? Think you might be able to thrive here?" She asked conversationally, slowing so that she was walking shoulder to shoulder with the younger male. She cast her gaze at the male and smiled once more before she lowered her gaze to the ground again. The female didn't especially want to remember her past, none of it was pleasant to her. She was trying to turn over a new leaf on the island with Taurig and Maija but years of doing the same thing was hard to break. Could she ever really change? |
