shades of cool

He didn't often leave the Covari territory these days, despite his past convictions of adventures and freedom. In truth, he felt utterly comfortable within Covari lands as he had not anywhere else. However as temporary Alpha recovering from illness he was determined to constantly push himself, to stretch harder, to run further until his body belonged to him once more. Today he decided to run, to run until the borders of Covari where behind him and the rogue lands where beneath his feet. Ran until he had swallowed even these beneath his long strides and would have continued to run yet if an achingly familiar scent hadn't touched his senses.
He slowed his pace, not yet coming to a stand still but first walking it off, cooling down his body and his drumming heart as he approached the sea, approached the place his sister embraced the waters and he could fully see her familiar form. He was addled from his run, Little Bird truly was there and his familiar half smirk would touch his lips. His sisters had begun to appear, one by one and each held a harsh tail to tell him. He remembered the rage he had felt, the need to tear and taste blood in the knowledge that any had dare harm his kin. He looked Little Bird over now as he approached, his eyes touching over her familiar form and he could find no obvious signs of abuse.
He sat his hunches on the sand a few feet back from her and watched her movements, waiting for her to see that she was not alone, despite the wind that swept back from the sea and towards him, wind that would not tell her another had approached.
