ᴡʜ� ᴀяε ʏᴏᴜ, ʀεᴀʟʟʏ?

Scarred phoenix stood stationed upon the cliffs, gazing out at the vast expanse of land laid out before her, illuminated by the full crystal moon that hung heavily in the clear sky. The sun-kissed babe cycled a deep breath through her lungs, weight shifting upon her paws in a futile attempt to sate the inner itch that plagued them. Haunches settled to the stone at the edge of the cliffs. Mercury peered over the edge and she took a moment to humor his paranoia of the cliffs by sweeping to earth-touched paws, putting safe distance between the dangerous drop and their comparatively fragile bodies.



Plots brewed in the confines of her skull, running rampant and fueling her blood with fire. The cliffs would be poor territory--pups would run straight off the drop regardless of if warned--but it was nice to revisit them. The Alacritia native had nearly forgotten that she was born here. They had all been nomads before the disaster drove... them here in droves. Lip curled in a silent snarl as she remembered the brazen idiots that had charged into the mangroves to lay claim as if no one resided there.



Mercury pressed against her leg comfortingly, sensing her agitation. Immediately, her anger quelled, and the queen sighed, settling back down upon her hips and casting her celestial orbs to the star-specked sky as if some sign there would guide her. But only a fool believed in gods--and Jupiter, as she liked to believe, was no fool.
