Where had he gone all these months? Darkness had clouded his mind, making his thoughts hazy and uncertain. He hadn't exactly left out of fear -- he had never known fear. Basilisk had never truly been afraid of anything besides, perhaps, Cataleya. Confusion had forced him away, the strength that Cataleya had implanted in his heart turning to cold malice and rage that hadn't known how to control.

But it was her call that had forced him here again. He hadn't hesitated in responding to it. Somehow, he knew it was time to come back to her, whether or not she accepted him. Her reaction had been torn when he'd first shown his face. She was not quite pleased, but rage was not something he was surprised to see in her.

The dark-pelted brute was alarmingly quiet as he paced the lands, trailing after Cataleya's familiar scent. Her voice was teasing and he found his skin crawl at the sound as he closed the distance between them. "Did you expect me to disappear forever?" he asked softly. Basilisk had offered his life, dare he ever abandon her; yet part of him doubted she would take it. Yet he would never voice this to her, lest it fuel the rage that he knew always boiled below the surface. "I couldn't resist you." The relationship they shared was a strange one, one he couldn't put into words, but he truly hadn't been able to ignore her call this time.
