Quest in the Fog

Kia trudged through the mud with the determination of a train whose brakes had been torn out. Though, because of the muck, she couldn’t move all that quickly. Still, this was a challenge, and she took it in stride. What was she looking for? Nothing in particular. Boredom had brought her here, and now that she was here, she was determined to not be bored anymore. As she waded through the swamp, a shape slowly showed itself before her, until she was suddenly standing face-to-face with another of her kind. This female was quite pretty – one eye gold and one purple. In fact, her entire body seemed to be covered in… well… brown, at the moment, though the top of her head and back was a beautiful shade of blue-black-purple.
“Me?” she asked. “Pretty? Really?” Her face lit up, eyes and mouth smiling. “Noooo. You are pretty. Your fur is gorgeous.” Honestly, Kia wasn’t used to compliments. She really didn’t know how to take them, which was odd for a wolf who thought of everything as a challenge. You’d think she would be snobbish about it, but no. In fact, she was really quite shy now, and had no idea what to say, so she just… looked down at the water awkwardly. Still, even this awkwardness was another challenge to face, and she was determined to overcome it.
