The child had arose that morning with a bit of eagerness in his eyes. Today, Alfred had decided, he was going to practice his hunting. He would make a good, swift kill... One that would make his family proud. Perhaps he could take it as a gift to his grandmother? He hadn’t really seen much of Pip lately, though the child wanted to spend some more time with her. Perhaps he could learn something neat from her? She seemed like she might know a lot!

The child would pause, finding some tracks in the light pattering of snow that had fallen the night before. It was mushy thanks to the warmer winter season, but that just made it easier for creatures to leave tracks, right? The boy lowered his nose to the ground, sniffing at them. He knew this smell! It was a rabbit. Excitement rose in Alfie’s chest, but he didn’t dare howl; he didn’t want to scare the prey off before he had even found it! Slowly, paw over paw, the boy began to follow those paw prints, wondering if they would indeed lead him to prey.

It'd been some time since she had spent time with her grandchildren, and she truly did want to - she'd also told Leo she'd be more involved in Fiori life now. She was growing old, that much was obvious; and though her health wasn't failing per-say, she was growing weary and she knew her years were coming to an end. She wasn't getting any younger, that was for sure. She knew she ought to spend as much time with her family as she could, while they still were able to get to know her.

A slight smile painted her lips as she found her way to Alfred's scent trail, wondering what the young boy was up to today. Her tail waved behind her as she moved forward, eventually catching hint of another scent - rabbits. Was he trying to hunt one down? Perhaps she could join him. Her pace slowed to a cautious amble as she came closer to him, curiosity brimming in her eyes, head tilting questioningly.   "Want a hunting partner?"  Epiphron would ask Alfred quietly, grinning playfully at him as she came to stand at his side.

I have my mother's dreams,

I have father's eyes,

Alfie turned hearing someone behind him, a smile coming to his maw when he saw his grannie Pip! She asked if he wanted a hunting partner and eagerly the child gave a nod. “Of course!” His voice was a bit louder than he’d meant for it too, and quickly he looked around, tail wagging. Luckily it didn’t seem like anything other than Epiphron would have have heard him. Great! He moved his blue orbs back to the she wolf, tilting his head to the side.

“You’re pretty good at hunting, right?” She was an adult so she had to be. Right? Right! The boy glanced back towards the tracks and sniffed at them. “I’m trying to learn. I know the rabbits went this way cause of the tracks but it’s harder to keep a focus on their scents with the scents of our pack mingling in too...” He glanced towards Pip, a smile still on his features. “Do you have any tips that might help me?” He asked.

"Talk," 'Think.'

You can't take that from me;

Just Go ahead And try!

Epiphron had not expect to be such a family-oriented wolf, not when she was younger, at least - but now? Family was all she had left. Her smile widened visibly at his eagerness, and her tail began to wave slowly behind her in obvious pleasure.  "Good!" she exclaimed gently, letting out a soft chuckle.  "I'm feeling a bit hungry today, myself."

Alfred asked if she was good at hunting. She was not the greatest in the world - but she was adept enough to teach him a thing or two.  "I've learned a few things in my years," Epiphron commented idly. Though she was growing too old to easily take down large prey in groups as she had once done - she grew tired more easily now, and rest came more frequently - she knew she could offer him some guidance.

"I think you'll find tracking comes more easily with practice. Try to pick up on a stronger piece of the scent, if you can," she suggested, her head dropping to the ground as nostrils flared, taking in the scent of the rabbits.  "Maybe you can find a rabbit dropping, or a piece of fur.." Slowly she moved forward, posture hunching closer to the ground as she focused, moving in the direction Alfred had gestured in until she found what she was looking for - a small, barely noticeable pile of droppings.  "Here, this should help you get a better feel for which direction they went."
