She Wants To Dance Like Uma Thurman
The season had turned, and the world was waking up after its winter slumber (at least for Boreas). The sunlight filtered through the crumbling windows and holes in the walls where parts of it had crumbled bit by bit. Dragon's world, however, would remain dark. He woke up when the warm rays of the sun stretched across his room and onto his muzzle, a small fly buzzing around his ear. He twitched, subconsciously trying to flick it away before finally giving in and raised his head, an enormous yawn parting his jaws. He was reluctant to get up and start his duties for the day, but with how quiet the pack had been the past few seasons, he needed to get up and get started. He had understood that those who had raided the past spring needed time to recover, but hadn't it been long enough? They needed to get back to work. They were too lax, him included. And it wasn't okay. What if something happened and they were unprepared? A siege? A raid? An invasion even? What if enemy forces decided to slip into their lands and catch them all unaware?
No. That simply wouldn't do. The earthen male got up, not particularly willing to leave the warm furs he had collected, but alas...duty called. "Iskra?" He sought her out, though he wasn't entirely sure if she was in the room or if she had gone out for a morning walk. Her scent was strong, but that was a sure thing regardless. She had been sharing his room with him, the pair often cuddling up at night. Kimahri and Shiva had been out all night, and his other senses had yet to sharpen. He needed to start training, maybe find someone willing to work with him. Though his pride would be shot if he asked for help, he knew he might need it at some point.

Adjusting to life in a pack had seemed like it would be extremely difficult before she'd actually joined. Now as she was snuggled up in the depths of a mound of pelts, body contorted into a sleeping position that should not be comfortable, the woman couldn't understand why she'd been so iffy about it in the past. A soft huff of air escaped her lungs as she lounged about. Sure, she couldn't run from Auster to Boreas and back again all the time on a whim. Whatever. Being tied to specific territories had yet to become boring. She was usually too busy being distracting when Dragon wanted to accomplish things. That or exploring the lands just outside Talis and wreaking havoc out there so she didn't frustrate the wolves she actually had to live with. All in all things were good. Lately she found it harder to leave the territories though. Now that Dragon's sight was entirely gone she wanted to be around just in case he might need her. When he called her name from further across the mattress Iskra sleepily lifted her head and yawned a lion's roar of a yawn. Stretching and untangling limbs that were all over the place this morning, she pulled herself closer to him, positioning her body so she could lay her chin on his back and let her eyes slide half shut as she mumbled, "Riiight here. Did you-" she was cut off abruptly by another large yawn which silenced her a few moments until at last she could continue, "sleep okay?" Stretching out a hind leg, she pushed herself closer so she could press herself against his side and snuggle into his warm fur, burying her face and breathing in his scent contentedly. Eventually she was able to prop herself up, but only long enough to crawl around so she could plant several kisses on his cheek and then nibble at his left ear gently. For a bit the starry red woman thought about trying to drag him closer in the hopes of convincing the man that staying put sounded waay better than leaving the comfort of the bed. It was that still small - but continually growing, much to her dismay - voice which made a habit of telling her to do the responsible thing which eventually won her over. Scooting back slightly, she asked, "What do you want to do today?"

He wasn't too keen on getting up, but he knew that at some point, it had to be done. His figured his companions would be back soon, and wouldn't they get a kick out of him lounging around all day like a lazy king? He was sure Kimahri would tease him relentlessly for it, but for once...he really did kind of want to relax. Especially when he felt the old mattress move and heard the shifting and rustling of the pelts he slept on. Good, Iskra was here. He chuckled when she responded, only she was cut off mid-sentence by a yawn. He nodded, a smile touching his lips. "I did, how about you?" He wondered how she managed to sleep so well considering he had felt her move during the night. He couldn't imagine what she must look like in the mornings, all twisted up and contorted. He reached over and nuzzled her, his heart bouncing in his chest everytime he touched her. He pressed into her when she did, taking in her warmth and her comforting touch.
If there was anything he was grateful for in his new, dark world. It was her. He couldn't help but laugh a little when she attacked him with a flurry of kisses, ear twitching when she nibbled on it. "Come on sleepyhead," He teased as he reached for her nose to lick it. "I would much rather stay here and cuddle up with you, but seeing as how I've got a pack to run...I've a lot of things to do." He groaned halfheartedly, head falling into her neck. "Would you like to help me?" He mumbled, head turning slightly up towards her.

Blinking sleepily at him, Iskra smiled a little as she looked him over. His fur was a little out of place since he just woke up. The way it stuck out in places was kind of funny. Cute, but still funny. Thinking about it a moment she shrugged and declared, "I slept alright, pretty average as far as sleep goes." Then, a thought sparked in her mind and the woman added quietly, "I did have a dream. It was a good dream. You were there..." Her voice was a melodic, almost sing-song whisper. With some prompting from Dragon she would manage to sit up at long last, peering around the room as golden threads of sunlight reached across the stone floor, stretching closers and closers as the minutes ticked by. Eventually she would make it to her paws, stretching out each leg in the languid manner of a cat. "One of these days I'll be able to tempt you into sleeping in suuuper late," she teased. Now that she was up, though not entirely awake, she could continue to inspect the room once more. Several times she eyed the bed with longing. It was a good thing he couldn't see her lest she be scolded for trying to draw him in again. In the back of her mind she was pretty sure if she put in an honest effort she could get him to stay in late one morning. Unfortunately, she knew better and had to exercise some self restraint. Ugh, being good was duumb! |
He laughed, listening as she started to get up. "A dream huh? I'm flattered," he really did adore her. Even though he couldn't see anymore, he was still incredibly happy that he had been able to see her beauty before the darkness. "One of these days I'll be able to tempt you to into sleeping in suuuper late," leaning over, he nuzzled her cheek with a grin, "I think you underestimate the influence you have on me, Iskra. That day may very well come sooner than you think," He yawned again, finding it just a tad hard to get out of bed thanks to her. He wouldn't admit it just yet, but she had him practically wrapped around her paw. But he didn't mind in the slightest, these feelings he had for her was something he didn't want to let go.
At last he had managed to get her up and going, and with another laugh he too hopped off the old mattress and onto the stone floor. He could feel the warmth of the sun's rays on his back as they crept further across the room, and estimated that it was probably not yet noon. "Alright, first things first...we can get breakfast first, then check on the borders around the castle. I'm sure my brother has the stocks full of some good juicy prey. Ooor, we can go hunt our own breakfast, what do you think?"

Laughing and clicking her tongue lightly Iskra shook her head. "Dearest Dragon, I was already tempted to drag you back to bed. Naturally I'll take the easy option and go for what's already caught," she teased, soon ammending, "Next time though, I'll be more than happy to do some hunting." Prancing towards the doorway to their room, nails clicking rhythmically on the stone floor with each step, Iskra let her tail run along his side, drawing him along with her as she chuckled, "Let's go, then!"
