Hybrid Theory
Walking alongside the river, his fur dirty with mud over the most obvious scars he made his way up river. Towards the place he had called home for weeks now. A small den somewhere in a rocky field, hidden from others. He was getting kinda of hungry...perhaps he'd find smaller game, like a rabbit or squirrel to get him by today. He narrowed his eyes to make sure mud was covering the scar there, dismayed that it wasn't due to his recent drink. He sighed, he didn't want to roll on the ground again, but he hated the scars on him...something he had lived with since he was very young. A near fatal accident, killing those with him but barely sparing him. At least he had survived...but why? Just to be shunned on first sight? Ah, well it was something he was used to now.
Some day, he'd find a place where he belonged. For now, he'd continue to meet rogues and others who crossed paths with him. Till then, he'd mind his own business and try to survive each day with his meager catches. That was enough.
Besides, good things came to those who waited...right?
The hulking figure went towards the trees, just a few yards from the water and lied down in the shade. Yawning in the noonday sun, he twitched his ears free of flies, and waited. For what? he didn't know...
The hellish looking dame caught sight of a large brute, coat black as night beneath the mud scattering his body. Deciding to go ahead and see who this man was, she trotted over to him. As she got closer, the ebony and russet she wolf saw that this male was an equally scary sight as herself. Her interest was sparked further, and she picked up her pace. She neared the large man, whos muscles were thick and massive beneath his coat, and slowed her approach. She knew better than to simply walk up to a stranger and plop onesself down beside them. Some wolves were agressive, especially towards her, and would attack. Others would flee with their tails tucked. So the wild looking maiden decided to sit down a few paces away.
Hi there!
She called, beating her thick, bushy obsidian tail against the terra in greeting. After that, there was not much else she could do but wait, for an answer, a signal of aggression, a hasty escape. She was not beautiful, despite her feminine curves. She had no dainty face, no delicate paws, no appeal. All this lady possessed was a sleek coat, more muscle than most females, curves, and high cheekbones. Her dual pigmented orbs marred what could be a pretty face, and her strange pelt destroyed any chance of her body being noticeably attractive. Though, this was simply her point of view, none had contradicted it, nor supported it. So she waited, to see what this ebony brute would do.
With the afternoon sun beating down on him, Dragon felt at ease here. His eyelids slowly drifted closed in preparation for a nap as his head slowly began to bob with the rhythm of the water. He sighed with content, but it didn't last long before he scented someone approaching, and then hearing a voice off to his side. Amber and orange flared eyes open, massive head turned towards the voice that jerked him from his coming slumber. He looked curiously at the she-wolf who sat not far from where he lied. Ears swept in her direction, curious as to who she was. Her greeting reached his ears, non threatening. This was...strange to him. Most either attacked him on sight, or ran. He wasn't exactly the friendliest looking wolf on the outside...but on the inside, he was the exact opposite. He despised fighting, and only did so when absolutely necessary. His ears twitched at the sound of a dull thud against the Earth. And stealing a quick glance in the womans direction, he noticed that her tail was wagging against it. He half turned her way, sitting up a little in case for some reason, she decided to attack. Which she hoped wasn't the case.
Licking his muzzle free of the water that had remained, he answered; "Hello there. Uh...good afternoon. Who might you be?" He inquired, tilting his head in curiosity.
Speech, Thought, You
Hello there. Uh... Good afternoon. Who might you be?
He asked her, clearly unused to such an easy conversation. The dark maiden giggled at his unease, a high, chirping sound, almost. Then she revealed her own set of ivory blades to speak.
Hiya! I'm Udosa.
She replied, smiling at him. She wasn't often spoken to in such an easy manner either, but she could get over it. She shook out her unruly mane, freeing a few blades of grass from the wild fur.
And you would be...?
She asked him, smiling sweetly. Being as friendly as she was, she didn't mind his caution, since she herself would probably react in the same manner. And so she waited, wrapping her bushy ebony tail around her massive paws and sitting calmly where she was. Bi coloured orbs, left of evergreen and right of cyan, watched the terrian around them, ears flickering as they captured sounds from the stream, the wavering grasses. It was a bad habit, to look around while waiting for someone, but it wasn't meant to be rude, she was simply hyperaware of her surroundings.
Black ears listened to the girl before him, listening as she easily introduced herself as Udosa. He stared at the ground for a moment, before he once again caught her voice just a few seconds after. She was asking his name, and though he was self conscious about his appearance, Dragon would not keep that from her. She didn't seem hostile, didn't run from him, didn't look like she wanted to fight with him. So he calmed down his beating heart and slowly pushed away his wariness. For one as big as himself, one would think he wouldn't have such feelings and thoughts. But he did.
Clearing his throat, he introduced himself,"Hello Udosa. My name is Dragon, it is nice to meet you." He responded kindly in return. He noticed her looking around, and instinctively he wondered if she had company. Wondered if perhaps this was all a trick, and an ambush would follow suit. But he kept composed, kept his suspicions to himself. If there was an attack, he would be prepared...but he hoped that wasn't the case.
Speech, Thought, You
Hello Udosa. My name is Dragon, it is nice to meet you.
He replied, yet the anxiety in his eyes didn't fade. She looked around, now feeling anxious. She didn't know if there was need to worry about something, so it was better safe than sorry.
What's wrong? You're sketchin' me out here...
She told him with a nervous laugh, looking around for signs of an ambush. Her bi coloured orbs detected nothing out of the ordinary, as far as she could tell. Her bushy tail beat the ground nervously, and she shook out her thick, unruly mane, trying to calm herself down again. You're just freakin' yourself out, Udosa, he's probably just edgy because you look so freakin weird. She thought to herself, which helped a great deal in lowering her BPM. So, she sat, waiting for a response that would explain why he looked like he was getting ready for a battle.
Silence would be her precense. It seemed as if the youth was never really there, never really noticed when really she can see everything, hear it all. The heat would overwhelm the lean build, persuading her to take a sip from the waters, or catch a silver creature that lurks within it. Her bones where stiff, wanting to stay put and not be seen. But it was all to much, the shadows would hide her well, but it cant keep a woman away forever. Closing the lids Poppy would take in the air, expanding her ribcage before swiftly gliding to the river, opening up her eyes to dip down and drink the crystalin liquid.
Twisting the tiara the autumn dame would glance towards the pair, before slowly making her way over " Hello im Poppy, Theres a lot of fish here huh?" Such beauty, innocence that would radiate around her the delicate frame, the intoxicating scent of crushed ros?d petals; Lingering as the youths perfume. The icy blue orbs would remain focused, gazing at the two wondering if she might not quite be as welcome as she thought.
Tilting the crown slightly to the side the small baby tufts would swipe over the cheeks, the belly would start to rumble, growing slightly louder with each second. In that moment Poppy would flush red, not liking how wolves can know the simple things like- not being able to catch little rodents of mammals frequently. The girl would look healthy, her fur glossy and nicely groomed. Hiding away the small inpacts that have effected her life, like loosing her close ones. Having no home as of yet, and frequently travelling.
The dark man made to speak, the girl had introduced herself as Udosa. And she seemed a little nervous...probably on account that he himself was a little nervous. He inclined his head, ready to speak now before something else appeared. Another voice introduced itself as "Poppy" and said something about a lot of fish being here. Confused, he turned his head to face the newcomer with a slightly amused expression at the strangers boldness. His tail tip wagged a little, then he turned to the girl that had appeared first and smiled slightly.
"It would seem there are a lot of fish, at lease from what I have seen. Nice to meet you Poppy, I am Dragon. This is...an unexpected meeting. However, I won't protest to meeting some new allies." He responded in kind. It wasn't often that he met others who didn't flee or challenge him at first sight. But here, he would accept the company with gratitude.
"So, what brings you two out here?" He asked as he looked at each one in turn.
Speech, Thought, You
Hello Poppy... Sure, I guess there are a lot of fish...
She commented, usure of exactly how to respond to the statement. She turned once more to the dark male before her, her ebony auds flickering to capture his question.
Nothing much, really. I was simply wandering, and thought you might want some company.
She told him, chuckling slightly. It was the truth, she was a loner, and an adventurer, so she was constantly on the move. She had been through most reaches of these lands, west. She wasn't one hundred percent sure, but if not, she would most likely be out there soon, so it really didn't matter. Turning back to the other fae, she waited for her response. She was as curious as Dragon, since someone so young wasn't often seen so far from a packs territories.
