Aureus insisted on pushing himself through one more fight. He told himself that after this, after he returned home, he was going to speak to his father and request the rank of Lieutenant. In a few more seasons he was going to be two years old. He wanted to obtain the rank before his second birthday as a show of his skill in battle as well as his dedication. However, first he needed to find an opponent and a place to battle. The battlefields of Boreas were the natural choice. It was Borean wolves he was likely to battle and so they would make the best practice. He found a smooth plain and glanced at his companions who nodded back. They both approved of the space and so he tipped back his head and howled for an opponent.
Okay so so far his track record wasn't exactly great, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to keep trying. He was grateful that the pack was close enough the field it wasn't a full day's travel to get there, still, he left early that morning just to be safe. A summons for an opponent echoed across the mostly empty landscape and Célestin adjusted his course to track down the caller. The mottled man came upon a yearling, a large cat looming behind him and... Célestin narrowed his eyes against the bright sun, a bird of some sort. He moved his gaze back towards the young man before him, and he cocked his head to the side a cocky grin pulling across his face. "Looking for a friendly fight?" He asked. Watching the young man carefully, for a brief moment he wondered idly if he ought to have removed the flower behind his ear, he didn't exactly want it to get ruined but he also didn't exactly like the idea of taking out of his fur... it made him uncomfortable. So he guessed it would stay. |

Aureus was pleased to receive a response but he wasn't quite sure what to make of the man who stood before him. Now, he knew about wolves with wildly colored coats of course but he hadn't seen very many in person and he found himself rather stunned by this man who bore a rainbow on his back. Aureus quickly composed himself and nodded a greeting to the man. "Yes, indeed. I can take the first move."
He moved across from the man, eyeing the flower for a second before focusing back on his defenses. He knew this man was a pack wolf but he did not recognize the scent. He was curious to see how their warriors fought and he wondered if there were others marked so curiously. But now it was time to focus on the fight at hand. He'd been practicing a lot of traditional combos. Now he wanted to try some different targets from his usual. With his defenses locked down it was time to begin. Aureus kicked off and charged right for the colorful man. He quickly shifted to his right as though he were about to rush past the man. His head dove low as he sought to seize the man's left hock in his jaws. As a taller wolf he normally would not go for such low targets but what better time to try?
As his head dove down to try and seize the man's left ankle he would throw his left shoulder forward seeking to slam it into the groove that connected the man's hind leg to his side.

Célestin nodded as the boy affirmed his assumption and the rainbow man started to slip into his familiar position. He narrowed his eyes, making sure to track the yearling carefully, his head dropping to cover his throat. His tail flagged out behind him, holding even with his spine so as to act as a rudder. The yearling would dive forwards and Célestin would bend his knees, splaying his toes to brace for what he thought was an imminent collision, instead, his opponent would suddenly strafe to his left side and Célestin realize too late what the target was, he felt fangs bite into his hindleg and a sudden pain as the yearling threw his weight into his leg joint. Célestin stumbled slightly but managed to keep his paws, with a snarl Célestin angled his torso curving around his left side and jaw's parting as he sought to grab at the yearling's tail, hoping to grab hold of the base of his tail, where it met his rump though he'd be happy enough to get any purchase and pull. At the same time, he'd try to twist his captured limb and kick out, hoping to strike the yearling in the chest though it was more of a wild lashing out. |
