The alabaster brute had recently had his life turned upside down. He wasn't sure why it had happened, or how, but the change had been a sudden and pleasant surprise. He was a father now. A real father - not simply a source of DNA to be put off to the sidelines as irrelevant. His dream had come true, finally, but he was concerned. Seraphim worried that he would not be a good father, that he would screw everything up. And he worried that his status as the sire of Morphine's children would be cause for Devya to hate him. He only hoped he was wrong.

Not long before finding his newly-adopted daughter, he had met again with a pup who was familiar to him. Seraphine. It was strange, how she had ended up with a name so similar to his while he had not known the woman who adopted her after the loss of her true mother. He felt a pang of sorrow for the girl as he recalled her injuries from the fire, but he shook it off. It was Sera's words that had brought him out here to the river that cut Alacritis in half. Her words had intrigued him, and he had come to investigate.

Sera had informed him of the loss of her second mother and her newly acquired father, Demonio. After a time, Seraph had learned that this Demonio resided in Valhalla, far west of his home near Tortuga. He had set off early in the morning to meet the male who had adopted his friend, and now the sun was high in the sky, warming the skin under his off-white pelt. He wondered if, perhaps, the stranger would have any advice for him, and wished to ask him about how he came to find Sera. While he normally wasn't one to socialize, his desire to perform well as a father won out. He would give in, but just this once.

As he came to the river's edge, he stopped, gazing into the clear waters with narrowed green eyes as he let his ears perk to listen for any noise around him. A scent had caught in his nostrils, and he wondered if perhaps his search would be over long before he had planned.

In the many conversations he'd had with his adopted daughter, the ivory man had heard of the man who went by Seraphim. He was a friend of his daughter, long before they ever met. From what he had heard from Seraphine, this man seemed like he was a good wolf, after all he had befriended his daughter. She hadn't told him much else about him, the Valhallan man had become curious about this Seraphim fellow. Which was the reason behind his having gone down south this day. Sera had mentioned something about living somewhere near Tortuga or the south, but the man wasn't sure. So he had headed down south for his first attempt at finding Seraphim. Hopefully his endeavor would be successful.

Powerful ivory limbs propelled the man through the forestry, mismatched gems dancing over the landscape, nostrils hard at work to identify the scents around him. One in particular caught his attention; male and tortugan. Was that Seraphim? There was only one way to find out. Moving through the foliage, the sound of rushing water reached Demonio's ears. A river. Could Seraphim be on the other side of it? Breaching the border of the foliage, his bi-colored gaze spotting a male figure across the water. The alabaster man approached the edge of the water, his talons hanging just over the edge of the dirt, gaze intent on the man. Seraphim? He boomed, his voice carrying over the rush of the water.

So his theory had been correct. Just as he had stopped and caught the scent of another on his nostrils, the alabaster brute appeared and called to him. A small smile set on his lips as he realized that only one male could be expecting him, only one would know his name. And you must be Demonio, he shouted back over the river. Seraphim found it interesting that Seraphine's new-found father had such a similar appearance to his own.

He made his way a few feet upstream to a spot where there were larger stones to cross and made his way carefully to the opposite bank. Once there he approached the male and dipped his head in greeting. It's a pleasure to finally meet. I've heard a lot about you. He offered his new acquaintance a hearty smile. How is Seraphine? It has been a while since I last saw her.

Seemed like luck was on his side this day. The man across the river turned out to be Seraphim, something of which he was glad of. It would've been a tad bit awkward if the other off white man would've turned out to be someone else. He appeared to be a good man, apparently having heard of him as well as he called back to him, calling him by his name. So his daughter had told Seraphim about him? That was a relief he supposed. They weren't complete strangers then. That I am. He called back across the raging water, mismatched gems intent on the man's figure as he moved farther down the bank to a section where there were several rocks strewn across the water, creating a type of bridge of sorts.

It wasn't long before Seraphim had crossed over the rocks and came over to Demonio's side of the bank, approaching him with a hearty smile. The ivory knight's own smile curled his pale jaws as he returned the dip of his skull in greeting. The pleasure is all mine. I do hope everything you've heard are good things. He chuckled. She is doing quite well. Growing up to be quite a fine young woman. I'm very proud of who she's becoming. Tell me, how exactly did you meet my daughter? I know it was before I adopted her, but as far as how she never explained. He hoped he wasn't being too forward.

It was comforting to Seraphim to realize that the brute was just as eager to meet as he had been. Demonio returned his greeting with a smile and a dip of his own head. His words brought a chuckle to Seraphim's throat. Only good things of course! She admires you very much. He sat back gently on his haunches and wrapped his tail around his paws, maintaining his focus on his new acquaintance.

While he wasn't prepared for Demonio's question, he wasn't at all surprised by it. Any caring father would want to know how his daughter came to know a rogue wolf so much older than herself. He offered a light smile as he replied. Well, I happened upon her while she was off searching for a gift for her birth mother. I helped her pick out a flower and kept an eye on her until she was headed back to her home. She didn't even have a name then. He glanced off toward the sky, reminiscing about that first day when the girl was still merely a child. She was growing up now though. That much was evident.
