Arc woke up as soon as the sun started peeking through the entrance of their den and he very, very carefully untangled himself from the pile that he was in with his mom and Satira and crept past a still sleeping Acantha so that he could sneak outside. They had gone outside for the first time a few days ago and unlike his fussy sister he was very excited and eager to go exploring and get into every little thing he could find. He walked out through the dew covered grass, quickly getting his downy puppy fur wet and clumpy all around his legs and stomach as he waded through it like he was wadding through water. Which, speaking off, he came across a puddle near by from a recent rain and stopped, poking a white-dipped paw at the surface of the water and watching it move and ripple around his leg.

Grinning a toothy grin, Arc crouched down and coiled his little legs under him before launching himself forward with a giggle to land square in the middle of a muddy puddle, splashing water and mud all over the place and all over himself. He splashed and kicked around the water till he noticed a leaf floating on the opposite edge of the puddle and then he got down into a crouch, pretending to be like an alligator creeping along the surface of the water till he got to the leaf and then leapt at his pretend prey, biting and shaking the leaf around. But doing that got mud in his mouth so he quickly spit it back out, sputtering and spitting as he shook his head with a scowl.

The Warlord was running an early morning patrol. Him and sleep had long had disagreements, and they had only worsened of late. He liked to push himself until he felt about ready to collapse. His days started early, and ended late. He was finishing a round of the border when he caught a disturbance in the pack. Bast, who had always had a fondness for young things, had started to slink away from him. Following the sounds of splashing.

The Warlord shook his head, bemused, and followed after her. Leading him to… the tiny version of Naiche. With a bit of Asla thrown in for color. “Arc!” The Warlord boomed, before leaping into the fray. Throwing his entire weight at the pond the young wolf had been playing in a moment before. The resulting muddy splash left both the wolves looking about the same color.

His gray ears perked at a loud voice calling his name, making him jump and spin in the chest deep puddle to spot his giant grandfather throwing himself into the mud puddle as well. A wide grin split his features and he giggled like crazy as the massive wolf splashed into the puddle and sent water and mud flying everywhere, including a tidal wave that covered him in even more mud. Any of his golden fur was now turned a nice shade of mud brown. "Grandpa!" he squealed and immediately started to climb Sirius mountain, hooking his feline claws into his grandfather's thick coat to hoist himself up all the way onto his back, his white tipped tail wagging excitedly the whole way. He climbed all the way up to his grandpa's back and then made his way up to the top of Sirius' neck, chewing on his big ear playfully. "Take me on a ride, grandpa!" he insisted, still holding on tight to the thick fur on the back of his neck while peeking over the top of his head as if Sirius was his mighty steed.

If he didn’t already know it was Arc, he might have thought it was some strange mud-gremlin squirming towards him, as the pup hooked his claws into the Warlords coat. Lucky for Sirius his coat was too thick for the tiny pup's claws to fully penetrate. He was entirely too apt at climbing shaggy mountains, and the Warlord wondered how many little puncture wounds his parents were left with.

When the pup was securely on his back Sirius clambered to his feet. Making the motion extra clumsy so that Arc would have to hang on if he wanted to stay on. When he was steadily on his paws, and the ground was suddenly a long way down for the little wolf, he shook his coat. “Holding on tight?” he said to the little gremlin chewing on his ear. It was the only warning Arc would get, before he suddenly shot forward like a torpedo, rocketing over the grassy plains.

As he raced, he lifted his head and let out a mighty warcry.

When his grandpa started getting up and shaking him around a bit with the rocking motion of his body, Arc held on tighter with a giggle, abandoning Sirius' ear so that he could focus on hooking the claws of his front and back paws better into the thick fur around the top of his grandpa's neck. He couldn't get all the way to the skin anyway so he didn't have to worry about hurting his grandpa, but even if he could he knew Sirius could take it! He was the Warlord! No one was tougher than him! Well, besides his mom. His mom was the actual toughest in his mind. Though his dad was pretty tough too... He had lots of tough wolves to look up to!

"Yeah!" he said excitedly when his grandpa asked if he was holding on tight and as soon as Sirius took off running he was giggling with delight, sticking his head up over his grandpa's so that he could see the world go by around him. He grinned when Sirius howled a battle cry and he threw his head back to howl too, his much less impressive, more squeaky puppy call joining in.

The Warlord chuckled under his breath as the small pup joined in with a little battle cry of his own. The squeaky pup was still learning his voice. But it was there, determined and alive, and Sirius felt it. Felt the vibrance of his youth. He was the first generation not to know Zee and Azure, not to know their loss. He was something new, a fresh start. Sirius was determined not to make the same mistakes. To bond with these young ones, to teach and mould them and show them the world.

To teach them to be bold.

He shifted his weight to his back paws, and rocketed into the sky with a powerful push. Arc would have to hold on tight to not get thrown as Sirius completed the manoeuvre, and landed back heavily on all four paws. “Have your parents started you training on postures for fighting, little thunder cloud?”

Arcturus was having the time of his life riding on his grandfather's back, feline claws gripping tight to the thick fur to that he wouldn't fall off. They ran across the plains together and it was hard to not giggle excitedly the whole time. He loved any time that he got to spend with his family whether it was his mom, sister, uncles, aunts, grandfather... It didn't matter, he loved them all and he always had so much fun with them. Suddenly Grandpa Sirius jumped up in the air and he felt like he was flying, that momentary feeling of weightlessness as they came back down toward the ground making him gasp and grin, his tail wagging like crazy behind him. Then they landed and he flopped back into his grandfather's neck with a 'oof', giggling wildly again.

Then his grandpa questioned if his parents had started his training yet and he nodded vigorously before he remembered that he was literally on top of his head so Sirius wouldn't see him nodding. "Yeah! Of course!" he insisted proudly. "Dad has given me a bunch of fighting lessons already! And Mom has been showing me how to hunt! Here, I'll show you!" He started climbing down off of his grandfather's back hopping down to the ground once he was down to Sirius' elbow. He turned back toward his grandfather and quickly got into the stance his father had taught him. His tail and ears were tucked out of the way, his shoulders rolled forward and hackles bristled, paws spaced out and knees bent. He lowered his head a bit to cover his throat and then he looked up at his grandfather with a grin, eager to see what he said.

The sounds of Arc’s giggling and laughter guided him as he sought to make the run as exciting as he could. The soft gasp at the jump brought a wild grin to the Warlords face as well. This was it, this was the reason for everything. For the pack, for his strifes, it was so he could be right here right now. Holding Arc on his back and hearing the little Thunder cloud giggle for all he was worth.

At his question, Arc was quick to scamper down the Warlord - which was an exercise in rock climbing. Arc was a great climber, as proven by his quick descent. His little claws digging into the Warlord every chance they got.

AS Arc set up his fighting stance, the Warlord laughed. “Hey! Look at you, you're doing great.” he said, leaning forward and down to watch the boy pose “So, do you know why these actions are so important?”
