Mortis was aware that his father was heading down to Auster to take Artorias away for a bonding activity before the wedding. With a desire to see his sister, and not wanting Briar to miss out on a similar experience, Mortis made his way down that direction as well. He did not travel with his father. The relation between the two remained strained, but he didn’t let it interfere with his good intentions.
He arrived at the Hallows as Artorias and his father were leaving. He raised a paw in farewell asa they went past him - Artorias giving the winged wolf permission to cross the territory. He did so a little cautiously. He hadn’t spent much time in the Hallows since Art had taken over.
He made his way to the courtyard, and sat there as he raised his head and howled for his sister.

She had been surprised by her father showing up just before their wedding to steal Artorias away, but she just grinned and shook her head as she waved them off. She knew it would probably only lead to trouble knowing the two of them, but she was honestly just glad that her father and Art got along so well. One of her biggest concerns when her and Artorias' relationship began to get more serious was whether or not her father would approve or let her go and with as close as the two men were that hadn't been an issue. It did mean that she was left with the whole evening to herself and for a little while she was wandering the castle, considering what to do with her time. She was just about to go find Lia and see what her friend was up to when an even more surprising voice called for her from the courtyard.
Her ears perked and she rushed out through the castle's main doors with disbelief until her turquoise gaze landed on the very distinctive form of her dear winged brother. She grinned happily and her thickly braided tail wagged behind her as she hurried down the steps and across the stretch of grass toward him, laughing lightly as she collided with him and landed in his embrace for one of his signature, feathered hugs. "Mortis! What are you doing here?" she questioned between her giggles. It really hadn't been that long since she left home, but it still felt like ages since she had seen her brother. Going from living in the same den to not seeing him at all had been a hard change and she was excited to have him here no matter what had brought him here.

“Briar!” he said as a tawny shape hurtled from the castle entrance towards him. She landed in his arms, and he wrapped his paws and wings about her. His wingspan easily hid her from view for a moment, as his forepaws squeezed her tight. He was glad he had made the trip out here.
He kissed her crown, mindful of her horns, and released her from his paws. His wings still cradled about them. “I heard that our father was making the trip down to steal Artorias away. It seemed like a good idea to sneak you out for a bit of irresponsible fun before you get married” he grinned lightly at her. Knowing irresponsible and Mortis didn’t go hand in hand, but he would certainly try to find some fun for himself and Briar for the special occasion.

Briar sat back on her haunches in front of him as she was released from his embrace even though his wings were still fanned around them. As he explained what had brought him down to Auster she couldn't help but grin at the thoughtfulness of her brother. She never would have asked for anyone to do something like this for her and she didn't feel put out by her father stealing Artorias away even if it left her alone for a night, but here Mort was to make sure she had a fun night as well. Of course, the words "irresponsible" and "Mortis" didn't really feel right in the same sentence either and the idea of him getting into some kind of drunken shenanigans like Art and their father were just made her laugh. But the thought and the intention was there regardless and she appreciated it either way.
"Well... considering neither of us are really trouble makers, I would be just as interested in some slightly more responsible fun as well," she joked, with a grin. "What did you have in mind, huh? Or are you just... winging it?" Briar giggled at her own silly joke, tapping one of his wings playfully with her paw.

With his wings fanned about Briar, creating their own space beneath them, he grinned at her. Feeling a lot lighter than he had in the Armada. He had missed his sister, missed having her den near him. But he didn’t regret her change, knowing that moving her was the next step in her life, and that she loved the path she had chosen.
“I am… winging it, actually.” He agreed a little sheepishly. He fluttered his wings a little to tease her for the joke, and then tucked them back into his sides. “Would you like to show me around? Perhaps we could have a sleepover, drink some wine, and gossip about boys?” He teased lightly.
