Today marked the first official new day of him watching over Tanelan. Beauregard had thought about it hard and, after concreting his decision Tanelan wasn’t bad, he had promised to stick by him and make sure the purple-furred male was going to be safe. Beau meant it. He wouldn’t let anything happen to those of Menagerie, nor Tan himself. Wren clearly wanted to help too - if she hadn’t then she wouldn’t have been willing to keep Tanelan in the pack. The thought the other male might eventually be deemed too dangerous for the pack had admittedly crossed his mind… but Beau had made up his mind about that too. He’d stick with him, no matter what happened. This was more than just about his warrior training now. Beauregard stretched and set off for the part of the caves that Tanelan had chosen to sleep in that night. Yesterday had been a whirlwind of information for both of them and he was hoping to get to know Tan better. They were both warriors or would be. They had to have more in common than that, right? Turning the corner into the section of the cave where Tan was Beauregard called out to him in greeting. “Good morning, Tan. I hope you slept alright?” "Speech," 'Thought.' |
He had woken up in a cave, that was no surprise. He was however surrounded by scents, some were familiar but not at all. The boy curled himself at the back of the cavern with his paws tucked underneath him. That was when a small looking male entered wishing him a good morning. Benson wished he would just shrink enough to disappear.... why did he recognize this male's scent? Benson began to shiver, Tan who was that? His tail tucked underneath his legs just like his paws.
"P-please don't h-hurt me." he began to cry, tears staining his face. He looked so small underneath the light. Benson shook feeling his body uncontrollably shiver. Scared... Why was he in a place with so many wolves? It must be okay since Beau seemed to know him right? He couldn't be sure though his eyes darting around as he looked at the ground trying to steady his breathing.

The voice that responded to Beauregard didn’t seem quite like Tanelan, but it sounded nothing like Mika either. They sounded scared as if he was going to get hurt by the ashen cream male. Beau frowned, furrowing his brow a little as he blinked. Hurt him…? What was he going on about? He started to cry too looking suddenly quite small. The yearling glanced around. There was no one there but himself and what appeared to be Tan. He drew in a small breath and walked a couple of steps closer only to lower himself to the ground slowly. “I’m not going to hurt you,” Beauregard told him softly. “...and no one else is either. I won’t let them.” Beauregard moved his head to his paws, ears lowering slightly. He wasn’t the greatest at this sort of stuff but he didn’t want to see anyone suffering. “It’ll be okay, I promise. You can trust me. On my honor as a Ravenwood, I won’t let anything happen.” His gaze softened. “Just try to focus on your breathing. In and out, slowly, one breath at a time.” The first step was getting the other calmed down. Then he could assess if it was Tanelan having a freakout… or someone else. "Speech," 'Thought.' |
The wolf treated him kindly Benson shifted slightly. Unable to stop shivering but he followed the advice without another word. Deep breaths he'd said, Benson took a deep shuddering breath in and then one out. His heart rate began to slow, he often woke in such a state. He woke up in strange places with strange wolves. Sometimes they hurt him, sometimes they didn't. For a moment he remembered a fond memory a small band he'd run with.... when was it again? Sometime ago, they had hunted together, played together, was he somewhere like that again?
"Uhm, mr.Ravenwood.... where are we?" Benson asked looking at the cave. Furs were lined underneath him his shaking hadn't stopped but his paws uncurled as he began to relax more. "You can call me Benson." the tip of his tail twitched. He didn't know why but he already trusted Beau, there was something familiar about the unfamiliar wolf in front of him. His ears twitched self consciously.

Again he spoke, seeming to calm down some. Beauregard remained patient, calmly answering the other. “We’re in the caves of the Soul Sand Cove. We’re staying here, within the Armada, while we wait for Wren to form our pack, our home.” It seemed strange being referred to as ‘Mr. Ravenwood’, especially when he was a yearling, but he realized the tone of the one talking seemed young too. Perhaps even younger than he was. He looked around, seeming to take in his surroundings, and Beau watched him. The other gave a name at last, too. Benson. So that was the second ‘other’ that seemed to be within Tanelan. “Benson, huh? Glad to have something to call you.” Beau spoke gently. “You can call me, Beau. He offered a small smile. “It might not make a whole lot of sense, but I know you, kind of. I’m a good guy though, and I’m going to keep you safe. You have nothing to fear when you’re with me. If you ever wake up and I’m not with you for some reason you look for me, okay?” He wanted to ensure Benson’s safety. Especially since this ‘other’ of Tanelan’s seemed to be anxious. “...Why don’t you tell me what you want to do, Benson? We can either stay here and talk, or we could go out to the beach for a walk, or play.” His tail had started to wag a little. “Have you ever seen the ocean?” "Speech," 'Thought.' |
Beau. So this was a safe place, it'd been a long time since he'd had one of those hadn't it? Months, weeks, he didn't try to worry about the details of his memory drops. It didn't affect his life like the fear did. Wren? Why did he feel like he knew that name. Well then it must have been true wasn't it. As Beau protectively spoke to Benson he felt a bit of relief his tired eyes giving away a soft look of appreciation. His eyes darted from side to side nervously, "Okay, I will." he stated. So... always look for his guardian Beau when he woke up. So he'd be here for a while yet then?
His eyes suddenly widened. That was so scary! "The OCEAN?" he looked appalled. "Isn't that the water thing that.... that can swallow you up and the water tastes GROSS." he stuck out his tongue just thinking about it. Obviously the young wolf hadn't seen an ocean before in his life. At least not that he knew of. He tended to come across rocky mountains and valleys in his travels. How long had he been doing that?

Good, that was a relief. Benson said that he’d look for him whenever he woke up if he wasn’t around, so at least that was one other that he’d be able to keep a good eye on. He was sure it was probably scary in a way, not just to Tanalen but maybe to Benson too. Waking up with gaps in your memory, not able to remember what had been going on because someone else had been in control. The ashen cream male sympathized with them both. Neither of them seemed bad… and he was wondering what Mika’s story was too. His father had always told him dark wolves didn’t start out dark… someone made them that way. Whether raised by family or otherwise… but if Mika was part of Tan then why was he like that? Benson looked appalled as Beauregard mentioned the ocean. He chuckled softly at his reaction, seeing how the other stuck out his tongue. “I’ve never been in the ocean, but I guess if you aren’t careful it could swallow you up. The water is pretty nasty though. You’re not supposed to drink it. It’s bad for plants too, so it’s definitely bad for us.” He flicked an ear thoughtfully. “We wouldn’t go in the water anyway. There’s a stretch of black sand that make up the beach next to the ocean. It’s kind of fun to play in, though it can wear you out too faster too in the parts farthest from the water. Your paws sink in and the sand shifts around them.” Beau smiled and then had a thought. “Not only that,” He continued. “But I have a companion you can meet out there. She’s a bluejay. She can be a bit stern at times but overall she’s pretty nice.” "Speech," 'Thought.' |
Benson started to rise from his position against the wall. "W-well o-okay. If you say it's safe." though he felt nervousness around his gut when he thought about what Beau had said. The male had sounded so confident how could Ben even think about doing that? Everything and anything terrified him and he still mildly shook even as he began out of the cave. Having to adjust his eyes to the sun he felt it warm his fur as he fluffed out his striped pelt.
"It's spring?" he asked with a tilt of his head. The wind tended to smell that way if he was not mistaken. How many seasons had passed, last he remembered was it getting cold - the leaves falling off the tree's. Had it been months since he remembered being on the battlefield with scary wolves around him. He whimpered mildly and his ears flattened as he crouched near the sand. Why'd he have to be like this?

Little by little Benson was starting to come out of his shell. He was rising from his position against the wall and started out of the cave. Beauregard stuck with him, welcoming the warmth of the sun as it fell across his ashen cream and black fur. He hummed softly, his gaze shifting back to Benson as the other asked if it was spring. How long, he wondered, had gone by since Benson had last surfaced from within Tanelan? How long did he go between each episode of another coming out and walking around within his body? Beau gave a small nod and spoke, his voice soft. “It is. It’s warming up, and before long it’ll be hot enough that we’ll actually want to start splashing in the water.” He wore a thoughtful frown and drew in a breath before making his decision. It didn’t… feel right. Benson was his own being but like Tanelan didn’t he deserve to know what was going on? At least somehow? But how did he go about telling him? Beauregard’s ears slipped downward as he walked a little further on the beach. “Benson,” Beau’s voice had gotten quiet. “When was the last time you remember waking up? Where were you, and who were you with?” He shifted his attention back to the seemingly younger male. He didn’t want to scare him… but he had the feeling this was scary enough already. Gaps in your memory… not knowing why you were where you were… or how you got there. He drew in a breath. Hopefully, he wouldn’t make the other male feel worse… "Speech," 'Thought.' |
