She had never been one for pack life, but after the more than slightly terrifying run-in with her brother while he was deathly ill and threatening her life, June had quickly come to the realization that there was no benefit in staying alone. June was scared, and she desired the anonymity of a pack to shield her from the stranger currently inhabiting Gus' body. And so after fleeing that encounter with her tail between her legs, June had headed south. This was the first pack that she had stumbled across, and hell, even if it wasn't a pleasant place to stay, June knew in that moment that what she needed more than anything was a family. One that wasn't going to try and kill her.
And so, without allowing herself a second thought, June tilted her head back and let a soft howl escape her maw. It was a timid noise, hardly carrying in the still, cold air, but it was more noise than June had made in some time now. And she was scared now, her limbs shaking a little as fear made an appearance in her thoughts. What if the pack was full of murderers? What if they were going to forcibly claim her?
June wrapped her tail around her paws as she settled down, compressing herself into a smaller space and hopefully hiding the slight tremors in her paws. This was a big step for her - something she had never done before. Gus would have been proud, if he had been, you know, sane. And not trying to murder her

OOC. Putting this shortly after Hermes' death, as a potential death thread is already in progress.
If the man was learning anything right now it was that the world kept right on turning, no matter how much you wished it might stop. He wanted to rest, he wanted a break to breath, to grieve. His son was well and truly gone from him, never to return. The image of him, no breath to move his sides, no life to fill his gaze anymore? His own child, a boy he had held tight on nights when the nightmares had set in, a boy he had watched grow and flourish, a boy that had been a blessing upon his life, and suddenly he was gone.
Helios had not believed the sickness to be a curse; the gods would not punish them so surely? now he wasn?t so sure. Hermes who had done nothing but their work, who had been loyal and shown great fealty to the gods had been claimed by their cruel game? His faith was shaken, something he had never imagined could happen.
The world kept moving.
A howl reached him through the fog of his grief, echoing over the lands and for a moment he thought he would ignore it, didn?t he deserve a rest? But of course he had to answer, he had to do whatever he could to try and earn back the gods? favor before they decided to take anyone else. The man gently nuzzled his mate, and plodded dutifully from his den. There was little pride in his stance as he loped from the valley towards the plains, dead as they were in the middle of winter.
There was a figure at their borders and with some effort he adopted a position of authority, shoulders rolling back, tail raising and head high. His fur was ruffled though, bags under his eyes as he had not slept much at all lately. "Greetings stranger." He managed, voice wavering before he got control over it. "What brings you to Olympus?" It felt too cheerful, surreal.

June stirred when the russet male appeared, her amber gaze tracking him as he drew closer, head held high. Her eyes flicked across his ruffled fur, concern worming its way into her thoughts. Was he alright? It wasn't exactly her place to ask, however, and June didn't want to offend him by asking, so she kept her maw clamped shut until the male spoke. June gazed at him for a moment, fear keeping her jaw glued shut until June took a shuddering breath, forcing a wavering few words out. "I . . . I seek to joinyourpack." Her first words were hesitant, and then they began to run together as she progressed further along into the sentence.
Why had she decided to do this? Well, mostly because her brother had gone potentially insane and June needed somewhere to stay. And scary though it might be to address this russet stranger, she needed to do it. Otherwise, Gus might really attempt to kill her, and she couldn't imagine trying to fight back. A playful spar was one thing, but to really attempt to injure her brother? There was no way June could do that. She loved him far too much to try such a thing, no matter what he was doing. Which was why she needed a pack, a family - June didn't have a deathwish, she just didn't want to fight her brother.
And so June was standing here for a good reason, in her own opinion. She just didn't fully know how to vocalize it, how to explain that the plague that she hardly knew existed had impacted her life as well. She hadn't heard of any other sick wolves, probably due to the fact that June made an effort to avoid other wolves as much as possible. For all she knew, Gus had just spontaneously gone crazy and was now on a murdering spree. Or maybe he just wanted to kill her. The latter option seemed more likely, as June couldn't picture Gus trying to kill anyone.

She was nervous, that much was obvious. Had she arrived only a few days earlier he might have chuckled good naturedly at her response. Not today though. He did attempt a small smile for her though, doing his best to reassure her. By now his response was pretty automatic so he could more or less zone out as he began to rattle off information. " Life in Olympus is not easy." He began with a light warning. "We are an empire, founded by my own family. Member of the Olympus family are descended from the gods and as such are to be treated with respect. We expect the same commitment towards the betterment and expanding of the pack from them as we do from those outside the family. "
The man paused for a moment, sizing her up. "If you have any sort of skill you will be sorted in a position in which your talent will be put to good use. " He paused again, letting her think on that a moment.
"Above all we value strength and commitment, if you can showcase your own skills you will do well; and in return for your loyalty we will offer you protection and the chance to do something great with your life." There was hardly any emotion as he spoke.

He was scary, June noted, but perhaps he was scary in a manner that might warn Gus off. She needed that, June knew. And as the brown female gazed warily at the russet wolf who stood before her, she listened to his toneless words curiously. Olympus, huh? It had a nice ring to it. She liked the thought of that. And to join a family descended from gods would be pleasant - perhaps they would have the strength needed to protect her. Or perhaps because she was not descended from gods, they would be willing to toss her to the wolves (literally) should Gus come calling. But June was inclined to trust others, despite being wary of them, and he did promise protection.
"I can hunt?" June offered it up cautiously, amber gaze locked on the russet figure before her. "I lived on my own for a while." She elaborated slightly, though only slightly. She had lived on her own for about a year, and during that time she would have starved to death without being able to hunt. And yet, many wolves could hunt well enough for themselves. Maybe they didn't need any more hunters. But that was all June really had to offer, honestly. She could not fight in good conscience, and healing was never something she'd had an aptitude for. She would be useless to this pack, wouldn't she?
June was almost waiting for the other to laugh in her face and drive her off, but June took a deep breath, and did something fairly rare for her - beginning a new thread of conversation without being addressed first. Not really something she was too fond of. But she needed to make a better impression than she was already. "My name is June Kalendae," She had to fight to keep her voice steady and to act like she wasn't intimidated by this russet wolf who stood before her - not that it was very effective.

The man only half listened as the woman spoke, nodding at the appropriate time and keeping his gaze fixed on her spot, though it had glazed over some as if not really seeing her. He was within his own mind in fact, the only safe spot for him right now, though with his own thoughts constantly bouncing about he wasn?t too sure just how safe.
?I can hunt?? He didn?t really notice the little question tagged onto the comment, already mentally running through the ranks that she would fit into missing the rest of her statement completely. "All non-Olympus hunters are given the rank of Legion." He stated numbly, spouting simple fact. "You would also adopt this rank."
She introduced herself and Helios managed a respectful bow of his head. "Helios Olympus." He said, realizing he had not introduced himself yet. Then he shifted over, nodding back over his shoulder towards the packlands as if inviting her to step over the border. "Then if all is in accordance I welcome you to Olympus." He paused for a moment, thinking. "And I do apologize in advanced if some of our members do not seem too friendly right now?" He trailed off, feeling the guilt once more rising in his stomach. "We have recently suffered a loss and some of the family is in mourning."
