The familiars. The altar. He had to put something together, it just... it felt right. Though Ivy wasn't sure exactly what he was doing here, exactly what he was doing in Auster, it just... he needed to. That seemed to be good enough. As he made his way towards the altar, he began to pluck sweet-smelling herbs here, a handful (pawful?) of pretty flowers there. Slowly, he'd gather them together, bundling them as he walked. Though not perfect, it would be better than nothing. Can't show up to a feast empty handed. It would be enough.

Would he be enough? A sigh heaved through his chest, his lungs. Would he be enough for his family, what was left of it? Would the be disappointed in him, should they ever come back together? Dishonor on his own name. Ivy did his best to brush those thoughts from his head. Shake them away. There was the acute feeling, too, that he was being watched.

"What the hell?" That was all he could really process, for now, carefully setting his bundle of sweet smelling herbs and flowers. Someone was out there.

Things were weird and so was Tate, and that was good enough. Tate was weird. Tate could be weird. Frankly, Tate was good with that. Tate, he was trying that out, or at least he would if he was going to meet someone new. Potato was a lot, and frankly... hell, it was a silly name. Tate made him sound like a badass. It made him sound cool. He was Tate, not Potato. Still rather potato-shaped, growing out of that puppy fat. Maybe it was the puppy fat that had slowed him down, and maybe that was why he was running late to prepare for that feast.

His siblings had to have put together something cooler. Meanwhile, Tate had picked up every reasonably-cool looking flower he'd found along the way as he tripped towards the site of the altar. They were stuffed haphazardly, yet charmingly, into his mouth while he walked. He'd do his best to catch up, but let's be real-- when had Tate ever been fast enough for that? Still, somewhere up ahead he caught a flash of blue. Who was blue? Who even was that? Tate found himself staring, clutching at still-more flowers as he went. He was doing his best to figure out who belonged to the figure up ahead.

Until the figure caught him staring. Nope, certainly wasn't someone he knew. Still, he did his best to come up with some kind of composed answer. A charming smile around the messy bouquet, or as charming as he could manage. "Looks like we had the same idea, great minds hm?" And a little quirk of his brows. The blue boy, at this distance, was clearly older. A yearling, at least. Maybe he had his shit together, or at least, more than Tate did.

Ivy surveyed the brown figure as it came into focus before him, realizing that the pup was large but mostly... mostly harmless looking. The flowers he'd gathered were more aesthetic, but it was true, they had the same idea. Ivy wasn't comforted much by this, but he was compelled to help the child. Hell, Ivy was about that age when he'd broken away from his family, from his home. Carefully, he approached the boy. The creature was bulky, clumsy... and maybe he needed all the help he could get, after all.

"Here, do you want to put yours together with mine? We can bring it together." There was still a little time, after all. Yeah, a little time. He could do this quickly enough. "If you grab me some of the dried vines, we can weave it together." As the brown pup laid down his slightly slobbery pile of flowers, Ivy took a moment to sort them through. Like colors with like colors, as careful a gradient as he could. If there was more time he would have maybe sent the boy looking for more white, but this would do for now.

The blue boy didn't look mad that he was staring, and Tate would take that. Always one to be both seen and heard, sometimes Tate came across as a bit... a bit much. There was kindness in the stranger, and for that, he was glad. As the boy suggested they bring their offerings together, Tate nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, we can do it together, it'll be even better that way." Even better, or well... really anything was better than what Tate had come up with. That was okay though.

With a great, giant tug he gathered some dried out vines from the grape plants. They were a bit thorny, and they dried out his mouth. That was okay though. Tate trotted back and gave Ivy an expectant look, setting them down at the boy's feet, careful not to disturb the stack of plants beside him.

The vines were scraggly, but they'd certainly do the job. "Here, hold this down as hard as you can." Ivy offered the instruction, gesturing to a section of vine. As soon as he was satisfied with the anchor, he deftly began to plait the strands of vine, weaving in herbs and flowers as he went. It was a quick job, and maybe not the most tidy, but it would certainly do the trick. He was pleased with himself, and with the idea.

As he got to the end of the vines, he looked to the brown pup once more. "Help me tie these ends together, to close it off." It was a fine, sweet-smelling wreath, filled with fall flowers. A suitable offering, in Ivy's eyes. Suitable indeed.

Tate wouldn't admit that he was fascinated by how quickly his new friend worked. Nope, wouldn't say it aloud, despite the look on his face being rather clear. The wreath seemed to come together before his eyes, and it left his tail wagging at his haunches. Still, he had to be careful not to send the remaining flowers flying. Right. Careful. Focus. Silly lad, focus. He continued to be the anchor point, leaning on it with as much of his weight as he could muster. Good.

And then came to tying it together at the ends, closing the wreath. That much, Tate was able to assist with. There we go, a fine wreath indeed. Together, the boys set off toward the altar.
