may the dread wolf take me
lolaf and king
Delicate pads pressed into the prickly earth with clear uncertainty. Usually the youngling didn't dare to stray too far from the beach but Imp restlessness led to poor decisions. The scrawny Klein carefully weaved his way through the briar. Every few steps his thick winters coat would snag on a thorn, resulting in either him tugging out of it's grasp or taking the time to carefully dethatch himself. Regret was building with each turn. This was why he was told to not come here. He internally scolded himself for going against wise words. This would be a true learning lesson for him.
Pink and blue eyes fell upon that of a red berry bush. Imp's heart sped up and a tiny grin slipped across his lips. Perhaps this venture was not forsaken after all. Slim legs carried him closer with eyes pointed at the ground. Each step was like rolling dice. With the thorns littering the earth there was the constant threat of bring pricked in the pad. And just like that the youngling let forth a squeal. A thorn had wedged itsemf between two toes. Immediatly he lifted that paw and fell to his haunches to dig the thorn out the slender fangs. Little rumbles and hisses came forth as he struggled.
Finally he was successful in removing the bugger. Imp stood up and let forth another squeal. The fur on his back had gotten caught up in a tendril of the briar. Quickly, Imp sat back down due to the pulling of his fur. His heart began to race again as he wiggled relentlessly, only causing the fur to tangle more. At this point he hadn't a clue what to do.
He got himself stuck in one of the thorns. Ruby's eyes glinted... a chance. "Oh dear doesn't struggle too much you'll get yourself further stuck." she trotted forward and immediately began to untangle him. "I must say a pup like you shouldn't be out here without your guardians." she frowned deeply appearing genuinely concerned as she looked over the pup. She had made the attempt to untangle him but she wasn't sure if he still had thorns on him. "What's your name sweetheart? Don't be afraid I'm here to help you." She smiled softly.
Panic was setting in as Imp found himself tangled in the thorns. Pale eyes darted around and fear swam through his gaze. It was clear he was in quite the pickle that he had no idea of how to get out of. With each movement and struggle the tangle only got worse and felt his fur pulling painfully. Regret swam in his heart as defeat settled in his heart. Calling for help may bring unwanted attention but it may be his only way out...
Just as Imp submitted to defeat and parted his jaws to howl movement caught his attention. Tired, scared, eyes flicked to a dark mauve She-Wolf moving his way. Soothing tones came his way and the naive youngling felt relief wash over him. Of course he'd been taught stranger danger but in a seemingly life or death situation Imp was just happy to have help. As she instructed him to remain still he did so. The lady began an attempt at untangling him and Imp sat quiet and dejected. She was right he shouldn't be out without guardians but she did not know his situation. Imp didn't even know where his mama was. As she loosened the tangle of thorns and asked for his name Imp finally raised his glossy gaze to meet hers, "Imp." His voice was raspy and soft. "Th-thank you for helping me miss." His eyes drifted down to his paws as his head lowered, "I should go now... I've been gone long enough..." He just wanted to leave and never come back to the briar... Thus, Imp stood and moved to slink past the woman and go in which the way he came.
"You can call me Ruby, an allmother of sorts." This was her only chance after all. Normally if they wandered off at this stage she could kiss goodbye to her bounty. She could only hope Req would do his job and help ease others into the role he had decided to play. These young abandoned pups would grow to be fine warriors and they could give the world a taste of her fury once that was done.
As Imp tried to trail away the older fae stepped in front of him, stopping his attempt at an exit. Pink and blue eyes slowly moved up to the stranger's vibrant gaze. Fear swam through him, followed by a heavy anxiety that seemed to force his gaze back down to the ground. There was a darkness that now hovered over the pair. Imp knew this was bad, very bad. Swallowing the lump in his throat the youngling listened to the woman's tones. Even with the offering of a name and the slander of his own parentage Imp did not trust this Wolf. Not in the slightest. The small Pup wrinkled his nose, allowing viper fangs to appear as he forced his gaze upward once again. "I know my way back, let me leave." What sort of weirdo would save someone from the bramble and then not allow them to leave? He was nearly a yearling and old enough to venture on his own, despite having been caught up. The only danger in sight now was Ruby and Imp had no plans on going home with her.
Sucking in a quick breath the small Klein darted off towards his only exit, further into the bramble. He hoped to weave his way through the thicket and lose the 'all mother' for good.
"You'll die if you stay with your mother you have now." his voice was quiet. Hoarse even he spoke little but now he felt insistent on righting the danger he felt Imp was in. "Home or not your mother shouldn't have abandoned you, Ruby won't abandon you..." After all Ruby had never harmed him. She spoke to him with kind words gave him food as he needed and he was happy to play bait or anything else that seemed to ease the purple wolf's normally sour mood.
"I have food and shelter not far from here. Please i promise you come with me. You dont even have to stay for long i can teach you how to defend yourself." she spoke softly. Now hoping that this would at least work.
