Mochi hauled herself up on the sand of the largest island and shook out her fur. The island seemed to hold its breath against the crashing waves as she emerged, and then she heard it. Distant rustling in the underbrush, feet scampering through a stream. Her stomach grumbled and she wondered if whatever she caught out here would be full of dirt too? When was the last time she had eaten a decent meal?
Her companion forgotten for now, she lowered her head and hunched her shoulders, pausing only long enough to note the wind's direction before she set out with purpose. Ruby eyes narrowed on the squat, fat rodents... Capybara... a whole herd. She crept forward, hoping the strange boy had the sense to stay out of it, and leave her to what she was good at.

But it doesn't seem like she needs his help, either. Björn is quick to take to the perimeter, securing the area. Never any knowing exactly what lurked in the dark, especially in an archipelago so large. Dove Island's signature birds called softly to each other here. The rot prince picks up a steady jog down the beach, making sure they're well and truly alone, before getting too comfortable. Drinking in the scenery where it spreads around him. A curious boy, unfortunately for everyone around him.

A blackened ear turned just enough to catch the sound of her new friend retreating, hell, she didn't even know his name, so she supposed that would do for now. The capybaras heard him too, momentarily freezing before realising the sound was moving away from them. They relaxed. Perfect, stupid, edible fools.
Allowing her muscles to coil like springs, she struck, exploding from the undergrowth, long legs eating up the distance. The brown rodents scattered, through the small stream around which they had gathered. Squeals filled the air and water flew. There were at least 15 to choose from, come on! This should be easy! But time and time again, Mochi found her teeth closing on open air. She just needed to focus! To breathe!
There. That one. She lunged once more.
