Odette's paws had become restless again. She had left the island as soon as she finished eating with Gael. Her cousin had become the second closest wolf she had in Valhalla and she treasured their relationship the more time she spent with him. After her food digested enough, she swam the cold distance from the island to the Alacritis shore. Her paws met the familiar sandy beach and she shook herself dry before setting out to the Western region. For some reason...it called to her.
The journey to the Valley didn't take as long as Odette had predicted. When she was younger, it felt like it took forever and that was one of the parts of traveling she despised. Now that she was older and her legs had stretched to their longest length, she had less strides to take and it was easier for her to appreciate the sights. That morning, though, she felt rushed and she wanted to get to the Valley faster than she usually did. Her body could tolerate the increase of speed and so she used that to her advantage by turning her trot into a run.
When she reached the edge of the Valley, she took in the beautiful blades of grass that moved with the breeze. A smile appeared on her face when she saw an equine standing near the other side of the large, grassy meadow. Apparently, she was grazing and Odette became curious. Bi-colored eyes of red and blue twinkled with the unmentioned curiosity and she began her lazy walk through the blades. Her legs and shoulders were hidden by the large grasses, but her head and spine stood out like sore thumbs. There was no point in trying to practice hunting techniques on the horse, for Odette had heard stories of Obsidian's legendary stance as the only one in Alacritis for years. She hoped that she wasn't seeing things and the horse was real. As she travelled the long distance to the other corner of the valley, she made sure her scent could be carried across the winds. Odette wanted her presence to be made known.

Obsidian

The sun warmed Obsidians sleek black hide as she lipped up mouthfuls of lush grass, chewing energetically, temples pulsing with every crunch of roughage. With the warmer months, her shaggy winter coat had sloughed off, leaving a black blizzard in her wake any time she shook herself over the course of two months, and hairy black patches in her favored rolling spots. Her mane had some new clumps in it, and at some point, she was sure, it would begin to gather burrs. Her tail flicked nonchalantly over her scarred haunches, chasing off flies that viewed her as a buffet meal.

A long, easy snort sighed through her nostrils, before the next intake of breath brought a scent to her nose. It was a Valhallan wolf. Her head lifted, turning to cast a gaze toward the scent, ears pricked. A young wolf that looked nearly a year old was approaching, and Obsidian approached to meet her halfway. ?Hail, Valhallan. I believe I saw you at the meeting just after the move to the Island? Odette, I believe?? Her voice was friendly, soft spoken words dancing on the air. She ran her gaze over the young wolf. She recalled Surreal calling out to this one, calling her Odette. Horses had a grand memory, able to remember faces even after a few years apart.

?I?m Obsidian. I?m a friend of Valhalla.? She had fought in the war for these wolves, something she doubted any other horse would do. Well, any other horse she knew. She hadn?t seen another of her kind in years. The elk and deer were good company, and all, but they wouldn?t bring offspring.

Odette had stretched her head out from her body to take in the scents better with her quivering nose. She didn't want to come across the ebony beauty and have the name misplaced with the wrong body. As she approached the horse, her head rose to its natural position and she looked up with perked ears as the equine spoke first. The words that left her mouth made Odette openly gape. "I-uhhhh," she stuttered, though if you thought about it, it was an inappropriate form of the verb.
She shook her head and blinked a couple of times as she padded towards the horse, making sure her head was arched high enough so she could see her. "Yes ma'am, I was at the last meeting, but I didn't get to meet you in person. And yes ma'am, I am Odette. Odette Adravendi." The full name she had seemed to give her confidence, so she grabbed onto that ship before it sailed and a smile broke out across her face.
"It's such a pleasure to finally meet you, Miss Obsidian," Odette said. She didn't know what else to say except the honest-to-God truth. Stories of the equine went through her ears like wildfire through a dry forest and she had wanted to meet the famous horse for some time. Slowly, Odette blinked and took another step before halting in front of Obsidian. "You are more pretty and shiny in real life than in the stories I have heard." She noticed the bunches of black fur building up around Obsidian's coat and a soft whine escaped her dark lips. "Do those hurt? They look kind of painful."
